I ordered my tickets with my danske bank account in January, they have since pulled out of Ireland and closed my account. I rang ticketmaster on Wednesday to register my new account, I didn't do it online because their website stated that if refunds were sent to an old bank a/c you should ring your old bank & ask them to transfer the refund to your new a/c. That was not an option for me as my a/c was void.

The problem is I have received my refund yesterday- does anyone know where this leave me if the concerts go ahead, will they reverse the refund and will my tickets still be valid? I'm freaking out about this, does anyone have any advice?

How did you receive your refund already ? I thought they weren't starting refunds until Tuesday, now Thursday.

So did I , so you can imagine I was very alarmed to see it in my account yesterday, I know I was talking to a ticketmaster employee about updating my account details but I didn't think I'd receive my refund before everyone else. I'm actually worried sick about it.

    What day is it for?
I think Monday Tuesday are dead ducks now. Minister is not going near legislation and it cannot be legally repealed. Probably paying out on those dates

Ah now, I wouldn't be at all shocked if they refunded ya and you could still go.

I'd say anyone could walk in and just say they had their's sent back.

Come on, we're dealing with some awful gobsh1tes here.

    From sinn fein's twitter:
Sinn Féin Deputy Leader and Dublin Central TD Mary Lou McDonald TD has called for common sense to prevail in an effort to resolve the Garth Brooks concerts debacle.

    Speaking today, Deputy McDonald said:

“Dublin City Manager, Owen Keegan, has conceded the point regarding five Garth Brooks concerts. In my view, it is now time to get on with it and provide five gigs on five consecutive nights. This is a much safer and more orderly approach to the matinée proposals from the City Manager. Common sense should now prevail in an effort to resolve the situation.

“This would be a positive outcome for the city of Dublin. The city would receive a substantial economic boot from the concerts going ahead. Those who bought tickets, booked flights and buses, and reserved accommodation would avoid inconvenience and disappointment. Notwithstanding concerns, local residents have made clear their desire to see the concerts go ahead"

Am I missing something here when did mr keegan concede or are they keeping that bit quiet? Surely if he has then emergency legislation is needed to overturn his decision? ?

I would imagine it was either:

    a: during weekend talks
b: at some other point that has not been publicised
c: just Mary Lou saying something for the sake of it

She is referring to the offer of matinees and therefore the 5 gigs asked for, as a concession, which it wasn't.

Is there something regarding new information coming to light?
This issue with the forged objections should be enough for him to revisit the decision. There has to be some way for them to correct errors in a decision without all this ?
How were they supposed to offer the 4 or the 5 over 3 days?
Honestly who are the losers here is these 5 concerts go ahead now?
The majority of the residents seem to be in favour. The number of genuine objections seems to be dropping by the day.
Out of all this I think DCC are going to come off the worst.

Garth Brooks Dublin concerts refunds delayed amid talks
The website that sold tickets for five Garth Brooks concerts in Dublin, has delayed its refund process in the hopes they can still go ahead.

The US country singer had planned to stage the concerts at Croke Park between Friday 25 and Tuesday 29 July.

However, earlier this month, the council granted a licence for only three concerts following objections from some residents.

Brooks has repeatedly insisted he will play all five concerts or none at all.

All the shows were called off last Tuesday.

Ticketmaster has asked fans who bought tickets to be patient.

In a statement it said: "Ticketmaster understands that negotiations to try and find a resolution to the Garth Brooks concerts situation are still ongoing.

"As a result, Ticketmaster will be delaying commencement of the refunds process until Thursday, July 17th.

"We would ask fans to continue to be patient and to hold on to their tickets for now."

Dublin Lord Mayor Christy Burke said he believed some progress has been made in reaching an agreement over the staging of the Garth Brooks concerts.

Mr Burke said talks were ongoing between the Department of the Environment and the city manager, Owen Keegan.

Irish Deputy Prime Minister Joan Burton said there may be a window of possibility in reaching an agreement over the five performances.
    Licensing system reviewed

Meanwhile, the country's Department of the Environment has announced a review of the concert licensing system in the wake of the cancellation of the five concerts.

"I will be taking firm steps to ensure we will never be at this ridiculous juncture again as it is not in anyone's interests," Environment Minister Alan Kelly said.

"I am committed to a carrying out a wholesale review of the way major events are handled and this will be progressed in the coming months as opposed to carrying it out in a rushed manner that is in neither the interests of concert-goers, residents or the planning system in general."

Mr Kelly added: "I believe this situation can only be solved by all the parties coming together in an atmosphere of calm and with all sides being flexible in their approach.

"If this happens, I would be optimistic that the common good and common sense will prevail as the distance between all parties is not insurmountable."

I would imagine they would have too, they where not supposed to start the refunds till today, and I can't believe you are going to be the only person with this problem

Ring them up and ask. And they'll probably issue you a new ticket.

If the concerts do go ahead, will people still have an option to get a refund?

I was really looking forward to going and to bring my 7 year old daughter to it, but the excitement has gone now and I don't want to go any more.

I'm in the same boat but I don't think there will be that option. Annoying thing is that when Monday was cancelled I went on ticketmaster and bought a ticket for the Sunday, so I'm afraid now of ending up with extra tickets.

I'll likely give the extra set to the parents I think. They'll go up on toutless if it's announced but not expecting them to sell. Thinking I'll have to take the hit. I won't mind going to the other one though. I'm at the stage of not caring if they go ahead but if they do I'm sure it'll be a good show

Just to drag it out even longer. Just give the refunds and be done with it.

I pity people coming from abroad. They dont know where they stand.

Farce of monumental proportions at this stage.

I have two Friday tickets, can't go now, was delighted to be getting a refund tomorrow. Now may or may not get it on Thursday, getting too late to sell them on, and anyway who'll buy them, plenty of people have lost interest now anyway.

Bloody cabinet reshuffle giving pathetic losers like Kelly an opportunity to "make their mark"!!

That's understandable but my guess is that if some gigs are played, as soon as the will he won't he disappears, then slowly the actually anticipatiion will begin to return. It's just been soured by an inept system and also by people that took satisfaction in how things went, just because of who this was that was to perform.

Had this been a Bowie comeback and he sold out five nights (not saying he would) then I think the reaction would have been much different. Sure, you always get begrudgers and righteous high horsers who will bang on about rules and laws 24/7, no matter how purely applied they have traditionally been and are and also no matter how incompetently officials have been when dealing with issues that arise when jinks in the system cause it to buckle.. but no had it been Bowie and Brooks, then I don't think the level of what I am referring to would have been any where near as bad. I think someone of with the credibility of Bowie saying his fans have bought tickets to five nights and he is not willing to sit back and see two of them cancelled due to ineptitude and so it's five or nothing, it would have been seen far differently.

Perhaps it wouldn't, not looking to argue about it but in any case, if there is even a remote possibility that he will play some of the licenced concerts, then I think the festivity and anticipation will slowly build back up. Nowhere near what it was perhaps, and it is for sure a shame that the whole event has been soured this way, for artist and fans, but I wouldn't lose total hope that it would be an enjoyable event. The build up and all that has gone, might even add a little to it also, in that it is finally going to happen and no doubt a few drinks, 80,000 fans ready to see a man that hasn't performed here for 17 years.. and I'd be pretty certain that an enjoyable night(s) could still be had by all.

Course, that's a big, drawn out 'IF' right now, but it's not long now until ticket holders know one way or the other.. what the hell is blooming happening.

When it was announced that they were cancelled I booked a weekend away for that weekend so I hope they will still honour refunds for people that want them
