Your spot on. Tis gas listening to those who are of the opinion that the voice of Scholes holds no weight. Those same people were in pampers when he was in his prime and are puking in alleyways right now. He wasn't quite just because he was too shy and if people can understand why he kept to himself throughout his career they might also realize what a great student of the game he was and why his opinions are worth taking note of.

Thankfully there doesn't seem to be anyone like that around here, just a few who question why he chose Paddy Power to voice his opinions.

That's true, it's just the means by which he chooses to voice that opinion which some of us question.

Why if anything someone like paddy power would let him say whatever he feels the need to.

We've seen the agenda's that exist in places like sky "Pro British, pretty much propaganda that helped keep Moyes in his job".

looks like we will have adidas as our kit supplier next season. I hear the adidas stripes make players run faster..

That $128 million translates to roughly £75 million.
So from next year on, from simply having the adidas logo on our shirts, the chevrolet logo too and re naming carrington to aon trainimg complex, we will make just shy of £140 million pounds annually for those 3 simple things.

Ed Woodward is a bloody genius!!

I'm in my early thirties so you are wrong about at least one person who thinks Scholes's opinions hold no weight.

The reason I'm not impressed by his opinions has nothing to do with how good of a player he was and everything to do with the fact that many great players are rubbish at analysing football.

Think it's still somewhere between 3 and 4 hundred million sterling.

If your house is worth £3b, your mortgage is £300m and your income is rising quickly, is that a problem?

    Of course it isn't.

The Glazers business plan was spot on - The debt is becoming an irrelevance.

I don't think either of us are saying a thing about the business plan. I just think the deals we are making now could have the debt paid off quite quickly. Imagine the club without the debt. It would free up a lot of money.

You've only to look at the RTE panel for immediate evidence of this.

This debate has been done to death on here.

Been very quiet on the paper front, saving everything for the Sunday rag no doubt!

I think this is spot on. Scholes's first media effort wasn't with Paddy Power, it was his appearance on Sky and he got stuck in to quite a few people and caused a bit of noise as a result. I'd imagine that it was on the back of this that Paddy Power got in touch with him. I'm sure the consultation to get him writing for them was along the lines of "we liked that you got up some people's noses on Sky, please do more of that".

Also, I'm not sure why people have such an issue with Paddy Power, I don't gamble at all and have no interest so I don't really understand the inner workings or how their prices etc. compare but they seem no worse than any other bookies apart from that they make some poor tastes ads but that says as much about their clients than them as, obviously, those ads are the results of focus group testing and the lad culture that they are targeting.

Their prices are terrible and they spent the whole of last season taking the absolute piss out of United. There's nothing to redeem them really.

I guess their prices only bother you if you use them and I guess the fact that they take the piss out of United only matters if you're overly sensitive to that sort of thing. Obviously neither bothers Scholes to any great extent.

I quite like reading his opinions, he was one of the best players I ever saw and what goes on his head is very interesting to me, and the fact that these opinions are on Paddy Power doesn't bother me at all.

But you have to take into account the risk involved in the business plan. Yes, it seems to be working out very well at the moment. But it could have gone horribly wrong, and if it had, the club would have been destroyed.

With the debt cleared would United be on a level playing ground of spending power of real, barca, psg , Monaco , city and Chelsea?

They certainly would. And if the FIFA fair play regulations are properly enforced in the future, we would be in an even stronger position.

Agree. I think the club manages the finances well. But without the debt there would be so much money available for development etc.

With crooked feckers like Blatter and Platini in charge I'm not confident that will happen

Slightly OT but Adidas are having a 50% off sale, some serious savings to be made if anyone is looking for some gear.

Ballague says DiMaria has told RM he wants to leave. Man Utd and PSG are interested but don't value him at the €70m Real Madrid are looking for.

Going on previous form regarding United and transfers he will end up at PSG.

If we got him, cool, we do have more pressing positions to fill though imo.

That is true, but he is a top top player as fergie would say!!

So Vidal is holding talks with united, lovely stuff. Not too pushed on Di Maria if he goes to PSG I won't lose too much sleep.

Hopefully we can push for a world class centre back soon too.

If we are legitimately holding talks with Di Maria and Vidal, then we have to atleast sign one of them (if the price is respectable). Vidal is ahead of Di Maria in terms of positions we need to fill, but we shouldn't turn down Di Maria just because we sign Vidal, and vice versa.

I like what Scholes has to say. He doesn't seem afraid to speak his mind.

As for Paddy Power, I admire what they've done from humble beginnings. Their prices are rarely good and they won't take chunky bets but so what. We're free to go elsewhere.

And as for slagging off United last season, if I wasn't a United fan I probably would have been doing the same. Moyes' United were an embarrassment and if anything got an easy ride from the media. He was fully deserving of turnips superimposed on his head and "Turkey - How much longer can this embarrassment go on?" headlines. We were a soft and obvious target for, I'm sorry to say, ridicule.

But a certain Iron Tulip is changing that...and they fear us again
