No Ethernet/ Network drivers

I got a new hard drive and installed Windows 7 but my ethernet and network drivers aren't there. I can't connect to the Internet to get these as there are no drivers for them. I have no idea what make the card is but my laptop is a HP Pavilion g6 2240sa. How can I get the drivers on. Thanks.

From what I can see these laptops are sold with Windows 8 only, there may not be any drivers for Windows 7.

I'd try to download the drivers for Windows 8 and see if they'll work. Otherwise you'll have to find out what card is in it (Intel, Broadcom) and see if they supply drivers for Windows 7.

Can you post the Hardware ID of the devices. See instructions here: http://www.wikihow.com/Find-Hardware-ID

When you get to device manager you will be clicking on the ones under other devices with the yellow exclamation mark.
The important part of the ID is the 4 number / character code after DEV_ and VEN_ e.g. VEN_1186&DEV_01A4

Try the driver here:

In the table under the windows heading you want to download the option for:

Win7 and Server 2008 R2 Auto Installation Program (SID:1655712)

So click on the nearest location to you (UK1 most likely).

You will need to do the same to identify your wireless card as there are a few options for that model number.

Contrary to logic Realtek's UK mirror is always slow for Europe, I tend to use any of the US mirrors, work fine..

This should do the trick.

Once you're connected to the internet running windows update may install other missing drivers.

There are programs that detect your drivers but I don't use them so I can't advise, I download manually after searching on http://www.pcidatabase.com/

Thanks, you've been massive help to me. I (hopefully) only have one more question. How do I get the graphics drivers so that I can use the Aero theme in Windows 7? My processor is AMD E2-1800 APU with Radeon HD Graphics.

Radeon drivers can be downloaded here. Note: as you have a laptop, you may not be able to use AMDs drivers and have to use the ones HP supply
