If he had been red carded he would of only got a 1 match ban,Correct?

    Punished for poor refereeing

Nope, they can still go back and take action even if the ref carded him.

The above want to compare Keane all day to Suarez..

How's this one...if the two footed tackle landed the same result may have happened. A broken leg.

the thing is, will he really care? will he be at a financial loss because of it? Should he be warned that if this is repeated, he will face a lifetime ban? Because some are speculating its uncontrollable, I dont think it is, I dont think there is a chance he would do it if he knew there would be severe consequences...

Was nearly on the money with the International ban but really surprised at the four months worldwide football ban. I would expect Liverpool to appeal this strongly.

The only good news from this for Liverpool is that I doubt Barca or Real will buy him now with this restriction on him.

He probably won't earn a penny from Liverpool till his ban is over.

He will miss 9 games for Uruguay which basically means he also misses next Summers Copa America

Yes but in relative present terms, the ban would have had little effect if it was only international.

IMO the ridiculous stance of the Uruguayans contributed to FIFA's resolve here. The "he didn't do nuthin'" and "Europe is picking on poor li'l Luis" probably got their backs up.

It's been said LFC can't appeal the ban, only Uruguay and the player can

if you buy a player with a history of biting & violence you've got to be prepared to take it on the chin if he does it again.

No. What he said was United Fans still cheer Cantona to this day. Which they do. Once again M!cK^ you dont seem to be able to read posts correctly.

Yeah, I agree, if he said after the game that he made a mistake and was sorry with a proper apology it would have made a difference. He has a history of denial and getting his team to pretend he did nothing wrong.

    http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/news/y=2014/m=6/news=luis-suarez-suspended-for-nine-matches-and-banned-for-four-months-from-2386354.html

From the FIFA website: "Such behaviour cannot be tolerated on any football pitch, and in particular not at a FIFA World Cup when the eyes of millions of people are on the stars on the field. The Disciplinary Committee took into account all the factors of the case and the degree of Mr Suárez’s guilt in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Code. The decision comes into force as soon it is communicated,” said Claudio Sulser, chairman of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee."

Racism causes psychological injury so yes

Evra was psychologically injured long before that incident as far as I'm concerned.

The suspension is harsh on Liverpool but even us diehard Liverpool fans have to say there is no defence for his actions.

All sorts of confusion around the remit of this ban - seems to be banned from stadiums but allowed to train, banned from administrative football-related activity but can still be transferred?

    Expect further clarification on this.

Will be interesting to see what happens if defenders start to refuse to take the pitch for fear of assault. The ban is only worthwhile if he acknowledges he has a problem and gets help for it. If he spends the time out being remorseless blaming the media he'll get nowhere.

Bit harsh on Liverpool considering this incident had nothing to do with them. They should have banned him for longer internationally.
    Totally unfair on Liverpool.!

If one of my staff bit a guy on the LUAS on his way to work he could easily be sitting in a jail cell awaiting trial. That would be harsh on me, who is going to do his workload? There is fcuk all I could do about though, and its no different for Liverpool, they are incidental in all of this.

If Liverpool fans are upset about this they should direct their anger towards the perpetrator, Mr Luis Suarez. But that won't happen.

I can see a time when clubs will not allow their players play international football because of rulings like this.

"A stadium ban is pronounced against the player Luis Suárez in accordance with art. 21 of the FDC as follows: the player Luis Suárez is prohibited from entering the confines of any stadium during the period of the ban (point 3). The player Luis Suárez is prohibited from entering the confines of any stadium in which the representative team of Uruguay is playing while he has to serve the nine-match suspension (point 2). NIce

Also read online that Suarez has been banned for a total of 34 games since 2010 without receiving a red card. Says it all really

Ok so I'm presuming the 9 match ban is for internationals, so that's at least the Colombia match with potentially 3 more in the WC. What other fixtures do Uruguay have lined up and does this ban cover friendlies or is it only for competitive matches?

The 4 month ban. does that start from today or from the start of the EPL season. If it's from today then Liverpool can have him back by the end of October, but if it includes all football related activities then I presume he's unable to train and the like so he'll have to go through preseason training from the end of October.

Pretty unclear as to the ramifications of the ban if I'm being honest.

Do you run an international LUAS system too?

Hang on, something I only thought of now,

If Uruguay appeal this decision, will he be available to play on Saturday?

It's not going to be a simple appeal regardless and could drag on for a while, could he maybe play out the rest of Uruguay's games in the competition due to this?

    From BBC article;
Under the terms of the ban, Suarez is prohibited from entering the confines of any stadium during the period of his suspension.

Does that mean if Barca/Real bought him they couldn't present him in their stadium? :pac:

Apparently he's allowed to play Fifa on the PS3, but if he picks Uruguay or Liverpool, he has to sub himself out of the squad
