Harsher than I thought and bad news for Liverpool.

For me the flat out denial was worse than the act itself. The act itself probably warranted only about half the ban, but I don't have that much sympathy for the long ban given the flat out denial that followed.

I wonder if that was an important factor in their decision?

That's kinda cunning, its long enough to be seen as harsh but not so long as to rile Liverpool football club into legal action against FIFA - if they get angry it'll be with Suarez for putting them in this position.

Appeal may be logged, an appeal will not suspend the ban action.

The more I think about it making Suarez wear a muzzle would be a suitable punishment, just to hopefully hammer the message home to him just how stupid he is.

His decision to bite multiple players will have cost him the chance to represent his country at a world cup and likely in subsequent qualifiers and miss numerous games with his club teams.

While the biting has not led to any serious injuries there really is just no defense for his actions. As a child you learn that biting is not acceptable social behaviour. It's amazing that he still hasn't learned that lesson.

They won't win if they sue. FIFA's game, fifa's rules. Liverpool, Suarez, uefa and the premier league fall under fifa's jurisdiction

9 Match = this World Cup and the Matches between now and the end of the Copa Del Rio so that's kinda what I was expecting and what he is due.

4 Months Worldwide......I can see Liverpool successfully appealing that as they had no hand in this, and even if they don't not available until October/November not really gonna hurt em that much now is it?

I thought I heard that woman say the appeals process is non suspensive of the ban. That would mean his World Cup is over, unless the appeal was very speedy and successful.

I cant see Liverpool appealing, it's pretty harsh on Liverpool, but I can't imagine they have anywhere to go with an appeal. Out til Nov, whilst not great, is not a total disaster.

Hopefully he has 4 months of shrink time ahead of him, he needs it!
