Difference in NBS and 3 dongle?

Sorry if this was discussed before, but what is the difference between the NBS with 3 broadband and getting a 3 mobile broadband dongle. Is there a difference in speed?

Only difference I think is that they are required to make more of an effort to ensure you will be able to get service under the NBS thing. So they might put in a repeater or something if the situation requires.
