Not sure of the full story but Rik Mayall has died aged 56.

I am old enough to remember the Young ones when it aired....some of the best comedy ever IMO.

Loved Bottom and The Young Ones, 56 is way too young.

    Was he ill?

    Jasus!

I remember he took a very bad fall off one of those Quad bikes about 15/16 years ago, he was lucky to have survived that.

Very sad news.. Loved him as Alan B'stard in The New Statesman.

I remember the first time I watched that show - Sunday night, ITV, and I'd seen the title in the TV Guide before and dismissed it for ages as some sort of political review show or something as The South Bank Show was on after it

Anyway for whatever reason I flicked on to it that night and loved it from the start. Fantastic show and still a great watch today.

    RIP

He did a lot of voice work aswell. He did all the voice work for one of the funniest PS1 games Hogs of War.

Lord Flasheart: All right men, let's do-oo-oo it! The first thing to remember is: always treat your kite
[Flashheart taps the picture of the Sopwith Camel with his cane]
Lord Flasheart: like you treat your woman!
[Flashheart whips the air with his cane]
Lieutenant George: How, how do you mean, Sir? Do you mean, do you mean take her home at weekends to meet your mother?
Lord Flasheart: No, I mean get inside her five times a day and take her to heaven and back.

    Class :D

For his liberation of Port Stanley's Tesco during the Falklands conflict, we all owe him a debt of gratitude.
