Well no financial maths or polar form is a disgrace. Of course those who are going for As wont mind but it really didnt reward the B/C students and the effort we put into these areas.

Probably scrapped a B at worst a C1. Cant do anything now.

    NEVER AGAIN :D

I dont care as long as I get my course at the end of the day. The record numbers will mean many weaker students so expect a nice surprise when opening your results

So lads papers out the window. This examiner has his own way.

I am one of those weaker students praying for a pass. That exam killed me.

Dont worry. Theyll frontload the marks. :) Everyone is in for a surprise Id say. The huge difference in the standard of the top and the bottom make it hard to set up a normal marking scheme.

So now the post-mortem-ing has died down, would anyone be willing to hazard a guess as to what'll come up on paper 2?

    Financial maths.

Can financial maths or some complex numbers come up on paper 2

    I don't think so unfortunately. :(

I have feeling paper 2 will be nicer but will do the same as in paper 1.they will only test on a few chapters

Well the snakes put in triangles today.

Maybe a complex number logged as one of the angles and the other angles are the conjugate root mean squared :o

As we discussed before paper 1, what are the things we need to know off for paper 2?

    - Constructions
    - The three proofs
    What else? :o

If probability ends up a major feature of Paper 2 Im feckered lads... :(

" The angle on a badly built bridge is X degrees today. It collapses at a rate of 30% per yer.
Calculate the future value in 5 months time.

It turns out one of the structures is not rooted to the ground and can be represented by 12+2i.
    Write in polar form... :P

    Enlargements
How to calculate the correlation coefficent & standard deviation

Are you on about the theorems? I could've sworn there were a lot more than 3

    Oh yeah thanks :)

We only need to have theorems for 3! :pac: For the rest we just need to be able to apply them to problems :o

Does anyone have a list of all the theorems we need to be able to apply for Paper 2? I don't see how people can manage to remember all of them!

wat bout the trig proofs too!!!!!!

can someone explain to me how that aritmetic sequence today was arithemtic and not geometric??

    lna^1 is lna
lna^2 is the same as 2lna which is lna+ lna
lna^3 is the same as 3lna which is lna+ lna+ lna

    So thats arithmatic :)

Im talking specifically about Geometry proofs, sorry should have specified :o

Because by the laws of logs, ln(a^n) = n.lna

    So T1 = lna, T2 = 2lna, T3 = 3lna...so the first difference is constant, it's lna :)

    Because T(n+1) - T(n) was constant:

    T(n+1) = ln(a^(n+1)) = (n+1)ln(a)
    T(n) = ln(a^n) = (n)ln(a)

    => T(n+1) - T(n) = (n+1)ln(a) - (n)ln(a)
    = lna
    = constant, therefore arithmetic sequence

    I think that's right anyway! :)

Ugh, I know that rule but I completely overlooked it today. In hindsight I did horribly in Qs 5+6. I'd say I lost over half of the total marks I lost in those two questions.

Id say it will be a full long question . Hopefully 75 marker .

Do 75 markers exist? or am i missing sarcasm

I hope to God stats and probability are two long questions. Trig is fine too so if the long questions are mainly based on those I'd be thrilled.

Can anyone give any predictions for paper 2? Not as simple as just saying stats will feature, but precise things that we might have overlooked. I know I wouldn't have been able to work out the average value of a graph until I saw it on here.

I'm predicting a graph of sin or cos for Q5 with questions on the period and range.

After paper 1 today being nothing like predicted or expected. Trying to predict is useless.

Wow after the work I put into maths this was just a huge shock to the system. I was able to answer all the questions on all the Edco papers, then this :( sequence and series or whatever all that was all over the paper, the one topic I knew nothing about. Then Q9 a topic I hate as well, no glorious simultaneous equations, no rates of change, no polar form, no de moivre's theorem, no financial maths. Worst thing is everyone I talked to thought it was a great paper, i'm here in shock, wondering what i'm going to do when i fail maths now :'( Damn you SEC, why you deceive us. Hoping they give us a nice paper 2.

I have no idea what's happening. I got a B3 in my maths mock. I literally failed that paper today. After getting 515 in my mocks its safe to say il be lucky to hit 400.
