I am trying to transfer my files from my old Laptop onto my new Macbook.
I have saved them on a USB key in .docx format but can't get them to open.

Is there another file type I need or is there a completely different way of doing it?

You need to have Pages or MS Office installed to read .docx files.

If you have a hotmail or outlook email account you can use Word online via Onedrive.
