Yet another work wear question!

I'm starting a new job in two weeks. For the past 5.5 years I've had a uniform but in my new job I will not require one. I will however be required to wear office attire.

My issues are these.

It's an IT job and naturally will have some manual work involved. Climbing under tables etc is going to happen.

I can't really wear trousers. I don't find them comfortable and I find them difficult to buy as I have a hips and a small waist. I pretty much only ever wear dresses and usually only bodycon style as they tend to fit boobs, hips and waist comfortably.

So I don't really know what I should be buying at all at all. I'm most likely going to just stick with dresses, so they need to be not too short, office appropriate, can be worn with a jacket, and not restrictive in moving about. Where do I even start?!!

I'm 5'4" if that helps

What about skirts? Asos have some lovely midi length skirts that wouldn't expose anything when crawling under desks and you could mix them up with a nice top or crisp shirt.

Next have some nice midi length skirts too. Zara is another option for good workwear and I've recently discovered Marks and Spencer! Not very fashionable but they've great quality, affordable wardrobe basics like white shirts, pencil skirts, dresses etc.

I often wear skater style dresses at work. I work in an office IT job also. You can get some smarter looking ones! They are very comfy and once they are not too short, perfectly work appropriate. I'm almost 5'10" and still manage to find ones that are long enough! Depends how "office" they require your clothes to be I guess..

This may seem an odd statement, but from a practical point of view, don't underestimate the value of pockets for storing the odd tools you'll be using.

H&M do some really nice office wear stuff. But as it's H&M, it depends on which store you go to (I've had to dig through rails in Dundrum for something which was on a floor mannequin in Stephens Green). They do a few figure fit dresses for 30-40 euro, and I picked up a nice pencil skirt with pockets (!!!) the other week

New Look also have some good stuff. They had a few blazers last time I was in which I was very tempted to buy.

Thanks a lot lads. I'll have a look in those tomorrow. H&M has been mentioned a couple of times actually, it's not somewhere I usually shop. Mostly because I frickin hate shopping and so most of it is done online on sites that sell loads of brands, like Asos!
