theres a couple of them on needrom for sure. XDA forum is the best place to find stuff though.

After having serious battery drain on the phone, i finally switched a MIUI ROM i got from the chinese site.

Much improved so far. Only thing im missing is GravityBox, but it preforms pretty damn well. Looks much nicer too.

    http://pan.baidu.com/s/1dDzhJbF ROM

    http://pan.baidu.com/s/1sjvv4eT V1 adaption pack.

Just flash both of them together.

Make sure to do a completely clean install, otherwise you'll have loads of compatability trouble.

Can you not just install gravity box as well?

Can't seem to get it to ask for root access.

Haven't tried much to be honest. Seems to be great support over in China for ROMS.

Stuck with TWRP as in there is no recovery image for our device as I found out using Goo manager.

Booting to recovery earlier via TWRP IT sent me to normal recovery rather than the tab screen on TWRP. Any idea how I can get to this tab screen?

I use Carliv Touch Recovery, never used or felt the need to use TWRP,

The above can be got from XDA and then just transfer it to your phone, then use Mobile Uncletools to set it as default,

Then either use Mobile UncleTools or QuickBoot to boot into recovery :)

Will try that as I have to flash beta 3 to my wife's phone tomorrow. Beta 4 failed twice for me on my own phone for some reason.

Liked the TWRP set up but guess it ain't for us then.

It might be OK m8 I just have never used it, might go have a look lol

EDIT:ok just tried it and it let me boot into Carliv touch recovery, so at a guess it didn't work for you because you only have the stock recovery installed :)

    6. Carliv Touch Recovery - Custpack - 1080x1920

Is this the correct one? transfer to root of sd card go from there?

    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2759988

pulled one from here in the end.

That's only the basics, it needs to be ported to the Neo,

Ok so unzip this one and copy it to the root of your sdcard, then fire up Mobile Uncletools and hit the "Recovery Update" option,

When it loads you will see a few different recovery images, just chose the one called recovery.img,it will have the time and date as 2013-11-03 10:09:44 and should be 5838k,

It will ask if you want to use it,just chose ok,then it will ask if you want to boot into that recovery, again chose ok and away you go,

Obviously it will help if you have already copied the rom you want to flash on to your sdcard, otherwise you will need to reboot the phone and then copy it over and then boot into recovery again :)

    Great stuff,thanks for that.

sorry lads for away for a few days. Would have helped.

Yea the Chinese apps are annoying, but very easy to uninstall and get a google keyboard.
Beta 4 is grand, its just a bit boring for me i guess.

Battery life is seriusly improved on that Miui i linked. Getting 2 days out of it now where i'd only just get 1 before.

Finally got the phone i wanted.

Get any joy installing Gravity Box on it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,766 ✭✭✭RossieMan

    None.

it seems to be an Xposed framework issue. Can't seem to get any module to work.

Not really to bothered by it.
It has pretty much all the customisation i was looking for. Its definitely not for anyone though.

I use quite a lot of the framework modules for different things so this would be an issue for me.
ROM does interest me if only for the battery benefit.

I have used both the MIUI and Margeto beta v4 and I can easily get 2 days out of the phone regardless, its usually on 40% on the second day when putting it on charge

    On hard use?

Mine will last the day but I am a heavy user so if I could eek another few hours from it that would be great.

Medium use m8,plenty of wifi browsing, facebook, here, games, text messaging etc

Very few phone calls though but that shouldnt make any difference rom wise really

Just hold your finger on it and drag them to the trash can. Simple as that.

Took me 5 minutes to have it working right with the proper apps installed. I had made a backup from my previous ROM. so was pretty simple.

There are Miui ROM's on the Needrom site too. Seem have already got rid of the chinese apps. Not checked them out though.

Tried this just now and worked spot on, used Antek file explorer to unzip the file and move to SD card, looks a really good file manager to me. Picked it up through XDA.
