A prime example of why you should check first before posting nonsense online.

Just went out to the car and starting rubbing at the black mark, it rubbed off as expected, but left a perfect finish underneath! Whatever way the black rubber mark was on the paint, it made it look like rash when in fact it was perfectly smooth underneath.

I deleted my above comments, perfect job from Lester Engineering, very much recommended. :)

My Avensis is parked nearly 2 months now as I have company transport now but I started it earlier and it went first go, I thought about selling it but it would break my heart to see it go..

I seen a A7 today with a god awful spoiler on the back it made the car so tacky looking..
My OHs Avensis is unbreakable but sadly it's starting to decay quickly. Pity really as the mechanicals are running well in it.

Yes seen that - and to be frank IF what the consumer show is saying is correct - then its a kicking that they richly deserve tbh.

Not sure what manufacturers think they have to gain by acting the goat on serious issues like this - youd think theyd be working night and day to establish the cause of something like this.

Seems a shoddy approach by Opel no matter what way you look at it - imo.

GM have a long history of doing what the show claims they are doing. Up to a certain point its cheaper to not recall the cars and just pay out the claims if they ever arrive in.

Why, Can someone tell me what Opel are guilty of?

Cars going on fire for similar reasons and Opel deny it happens at all.

Oh don't get me wrong - I believe the show.

Opel have been very shoddy in handling this situation

Bring it on - now they are watching this - I WILL NEVER BUY A NEW OPEL.

I can have a Ford or Toyota instead - or even a nice Kia

Last good car they made was the Ascona and Mk 1 Vectra :D

I reckon they're keeping an eye out for others whose cars have went in fire to tell then to shut up.......smells of a bigger problem to me.

Apart from everything :P I remeber saying to dgt after the sump drop, what else can possibly go wrong

Anyways, the rubber seal between the bell housing and clutch (i think) on the gearbox is leaking, essentially where it connects to the engine block, so its a gearbox out job, meaning the subframe needs to be dropped too, apprently though theres a new clutch in there so it would be interesting to see, the idea would be to take it off the road and trasnfer over to the astra

What bigger problem? From what I've heard of it the issue isn't unknown. They'll just do what any other manufacturer does in this case.

Say nada until they speak to the legal department.

Its a big issue for sure - but if Insignias were going on fire left right and centre - wed be hearing a LOT more about it surely.

Not sure how exactly Opel can come onto boards and tell customer to shut up though.

Pms possibly - but even so - doing that - means they look even more idiotic then they do already.

You're worse than me when it comes to rebuilding an entire car :p

By the end of the year ill have replaced the clutch, gearbox, engine has been taken out, full service done on it plus all the belts, clutch master cylinder, clutch slave cylinder replaced, brakes (lines, pads and disks) will have been replaced, rear suspension will have been stripped, rust proofed and polybushed, both antiroll bars upgraded, shocks replaced, drop links replaced, driveshafts replaced, all fluids replaced and the previous owner replaced the radiator, alternator, front suspension bar shocks, starter motor, power steering hoses and a load of other stuff. Not to mention that the car will have been repsrayed as well. Ill never be able to sell it. :pac:
