Upon observing a funny moment with someone I know the first thing he said was "lol".

Should I have smacked him across the mouth?

    So should I? 77 votes

    Without the slightest hesitation

Hit him twice if he's a TV licence inspector.

His spawn may evolve replacing laughter with 'lol' and the world shall be doomed.
Kill him, for the good of the human race.

    lol.

If you disappear, that'll be the end of it.

I will not look for you,
    I will not pursue you.
    But if you don't,
    I will look for you,
    I will find you,

    and I will kill you.

Lol ain't the worst offender. The following is taken from a Facebook friends status after a cross-dresser won the Eurovision:

"I realy dnt no girl dat fckn eurovision haz got way worse ,i rember years ago when grown up it waz great singn nw its al about maken muny"

Haz and waz? It'd be easier spell it right!

I observed a person saying 'ROFL' the other day, and I don't mean they spelled it out.

OMG. Made me cry a little "Oh my God" same number of syllables and everything when spoken.

I am still trying to figure that out :D

I've a colleague who sends very long texts in text speak, usually when they have something that needs addressing urgently, I cannot read most of them and end up ringing them. Despite my repeatedly telling them I can't understand their texts, they persist in doing it.

And they are in their fifties!

@ OP drowning would be cheaper than shooting

Just text them back some random letters. When they come screaming about it tell them you thought that's what they were looking for.

Or else try playing scrabble out of what they send you. Lots of Z's & X's in moron speak so a high score is assured.

I hate text speak in texts. Absolutely does my head in. But I am guilty of the occasional 'lolz' in conversation.

Quietly pull him aside and tell him that that your kids have this great grinds teacher for English LC and slip him the phone number for the teacher.

By the way you don't have kids.
    .......
    .......
    You'll need kids.

Play crosswords with him at lunch time and tell him you'll make a right Aristotle out of him

Or tell to shut the **** up. Or STFU up as it's probably going to be a slow start to build him up.

Yeah now that I think about it, do all the above steps in the reverse of how I wrote them.

Huh, that's nothing.... I was writing something the other day, and for a split second I paused.. Yes I was waiting for the rest of one off my words to appear on the page in front off me.... 'seriously' :o

I sometimes say ZOMG in real life. With heavy irony... Or, at least, it started off that way. I kinda like it now.

Not as bad as a friend who admitted unconsciously trying to press a button on the side of a PAPER book to turn the page :D

I don't mind short abbreviations like OMG and Lol, but I find it annoying when people who use "u" for "you", "ur" for "your", "n" for "and" etc. I would also agree that the longer the text the more painful it is to read.
