Really intriguing by the Texans. Filling a number of important holes and making their team all around better. Except for QB.

Do you guys think they will trade for Mallett soon or are they hoping to see McCarron or Savage drop to 4th/5th round? And if not, look to trade for Mallett over the next couple of weeks?

I'd say they are waiting for someone to drop to next round but they're in a good position. good draft so far for them

Really, really don't like the Garoppolo pick. The one big advantage is that he will get to learn from Brady for a few seasons, but I'd be amazed if he ever made it as the starting QB for a team like the Patriots.

I seen a comment where someone said he'll sit for a few years until Brady and Bill retire before the new regime just bring in their own guy, that's a good prediction.

I don't think Mallet is the answer for the Texans either if that's what ends up happening from this move though I suspect it will just be to have someone there when Mallet is a free agent this time next year rather than having a trade lined up.

The one thing about the Garoppolo pick is they have reduced his value completely. Before the draft I heard predictions as high as a 2nd round pick for him.

Now teams will know he is a FA at the end of the year so at best they may get a 5th for him, or a compensation pick

They must see him as a possible successor though, that must be the highest they've taken a quarterback since Brady took the reigns.

Happy the Falcons have picked up a safety. Still no pass rush though. Have plugged holes to defend the run

Problem with Garoppolo is he has never played a decent team. People on the Bears forum love 'hometown jimmy' but I'm not a fan myself. I watched him a few times last season and thought 'meh'. He got the job done, but he should be wowing me playing against the teams he was playing. Like against Towson.

Good pick, fills a need at least.

Yeah, I like it. Should be your answer for the long term at center.

Vikings just continue to impress me. Crichton is another great pick. Oh and they have another pick this round

Checking some of my reliable Pats sources and the consensus on the Garoppolo pick is - he has the fastest release in the draft, excellent footwork, good arm for all the throws, great feel for the pocket, super smart and way more athletic than Mallet. He visited us predraft and some sources said we might pick him. I didn't pay much heed because I was certain it would be McCarron. But they were right. Interesting times ahead and who knows how it will pan out. But the kid will be blessed to learn from Brady.

Mason's an exciting pick. Rams will surprise a lot of people this year IMO.

    Good pick for the Lions.
    Centre for the future.

Borland at #77 is ridiculous value.

Still no corners or wide receiver's picked. Borland is a good pick though with Bowman out injured.

He might be exciting but our playcaller definitely isn't. It's going to be a lot of ground and pound this year. Run the ball. At least I can go to bed, goodnight all.

I would have been surprised if they had got more than a 4th for Mallett.

He has done nothing to warrant a 3rd or higher pick. If we get a 4th, 5th or 6th for him if be happy after picking Garroppolo

how many running backs do the jets want there gets a point where your just adding rbs for the crack

Finally we get a S. Terrence Brooks. Fills a massive need.

Don't know a whole lot about him if I'm being honest but Kiper had him going in the 2nd and McShay says he's a steal. Ravens director of college scouting Joe Hortiz said last week that Brooks has the best speed and acceleration of safeties in the draft according to Matt Zenitz. Also he's listed as one of the best special team players in the whole draft according to Jeremiah. The draft Twitter guys seem to love it too.

That'll do for me until I get to watch more of him.

Always thought a Mallett trade would only be a real possibility only after we drafted a QB. I wonder are Bill & Bill having a wee chat now?

McDougle is a corner. You're not thinking of McCluster are you?

Content with that pick. Supposedly we weren't looking at the top corners and were waiting for day 2-3 to pick one up.

ESPN guys saying they taught he would go mid 2nd round, but other places I've seen him listed around the 6th. However, you'd assume Rex Ryan knows the type of player he wants

I get the idea of looking to the future and that Brady won't last forever but with Brady's window closing I think the Pats would have been better off getting a player who could help them win now. Not a player who might or might not help them win a few years down the line. Because for the next few years he's going to holding a clipboard on the sideline every week.

The Pats really should be in win now mode like the Broncos but they haven't really approached it like that at all over the past year or two. These are Brady's last few years and they've been really slow in giving him any decent weapons to work with. Granted Hernandez going to jail and Gronk getting hurt have not helped.

another very good pick by the Texans. To pick Nix up that late is some steal

We don't need someone who can win now, because that means he would have to play now. And that's impossible while Brady is still Brady. Barring injury, Brady should be playing until he's 40. Garoppolo will be winding up his rookie contract then, so from a timing point of view the move makes perfect sense. I'm more concerned about the lack of moves for any targets for Brady. No sign of any moves for a TE or WR, the guy is the most neglected QB in football, when it comes to giving him top class targets.
