When I checked online it says out of stock so would assume that is in store too.

online yesterday it said out of stock too but they did actually have some in grafton street when I went down a few mins later

Yeah, I managed to reserve one in my local store to pick up this afternoon. They had 9 in stock they told me.

Just got one in Harvey Norman ,Swords and its not locked , well 48 sim works

Reinforces, partially at least, my suggestion.

If you got a 520 don't assume it's SIM locked until you check it. Might save you €30.

Because CPW sell the same model of phones on multiple networks it's feasible that some, if not all are SIM free out of the box.

Just called customer service and they confirmed that when it says out of stock online it just means the central warehouse is out of stock and not stores.

Just picked one up from the Athlone store at Kilmartin Roundabout. Will do as a backup once my other phone is repaired.

Just been down to Liffey Valley and sold out, she told me only Athlone and Wexford have stock remaining.

I just phoned a place in Galway and was quoted 59.99e to unlock this ? Surely this isn't right ? I got him to repeat it and he said they have to send away for codes OMG ....surely there's a cheaper way ? I tried my sim in it and the phone is locked to Meteor

Couple of options on ebay sub €30

    Are these "Meteor" branded?
Is it difficult to remove any meteor firmware from them?

If you're talking about splash screens and bloatware, there isn't any.

Got a Samsung S2 unlocked on george's street a few weeks ago for 15euro!
They had it done in half an hour & I couldn't recommend them more, it's the small box shop just across from the Dunnes store, I think it has a blue front!

They sell phone covers and stuff too & I heard another customer bargain the retailer down a 5er for a cover, so if you're feeling cheeky you might get it unlocked cheaper too! I didn't bother coz I was originally going to go to a place on abbey st who wanted to charge me 25euro and keep it for 2 days, it was completely by chance I knocked into the other place while I was waiting for the bus home :D

    Edit:
Just noticed there's 2 phone shops with blue fronts across from dunnes!! I've circled the one that I used!

    Regarding Sam Mac's post above:
€8.99 is SOOO much cheaper than anywhere else online or instores to unlock it, its actually a little disconcerting! Also the fact they aren't set up to take paypal puts me off too, I try not to give my credit card info out to websites if I can help it....hmmm

As I said already, I had no problems with them.
and they have (mostly) good reviews here: http://www.reviewcentre.com/Mobile-Phone-Unlocking-Services/Unlock-Your-Phone-www-unlock-your-phones-com-reviews_1800139

Anyone know of a good rubberised back cover for this fone? i.e. to replace the plastic kinda slippy back cover that comes with the fone.

Just got one for my mother in Harvey Norman Rathfarnham.

They were really nice. Rang this morning and they said they
Had no stock but were expecting a delivery and that they
Would ring me back when it comes in. Got a call at 12:30
    And picked it up.

    €49.99 Meteor

Nice result. Not often a company would actually call :pac:

Will add Harvey Norman to the title
