    Fm transmitters are beyond sh1t!!
You'd be better saving money and getting something that can integrate it into the car stereo. Or a new car stereo!

Yes it was a **** morning lashing then it was roasting, took the dogs for a walk and had to take my hoody off and then about 45 mins ago I had the dogs out the back and went out side and it was raining so took them in. Typical Irish summer weather. A few different seasons in one day.

Yeah they ain't but you pay for what you get (But they aint overly expensive either!!!!) :P:P
If you like listening to music and enjoy its quality then avoid fm transmitters.

I bought a "high end" one and it sucked so a cheap one can only be sh1t.

If your stuck buy it I would rather listen to joe duffy on repeat then have to plug in an Ipod into one of them again!

I've found the FM transmitter to be ok for podcasts, but you seem to lose a lot of lower frequencies in music.

NCT are getting cute - went to book a test this morning - can't have a test in EITHER Charleville or Abbeyfeale - but would Sir like a test in Little Island.

Take it that means the free test after 28 days is gone down the chute due to the Little Island offer????.

Unfortunately - we generally find that anything that involves a trip to Cork City from where we live is pretty time consuming.

if it were Blarney - yeah wed have chanced that for sure

Anyway - the state of play now is waiting for "a callback" for an appointment in Charleville

Anyway - speaking of NCTs - what do we think the risk is of a 6 year old timing belt going bang during the test - I know its a "how long is a piece of string" type question.

Thinking of just putting the car through as it is - and if its going to fail - let it fail - and then get it fixed.

Not really in the humour of having a new timing belt fitted by the mechanice plus the normal service and bits - and then having the car fail on something that's going to cost big bucks to fix.

The tracking/alignment and emissions are two of the big question mark areas on this car - ie it could pass - or fail*

*awaits the flak - car shouldn't be on the road if alignment is bad enough to pass the NCT type comments - it does however drive fine imo

    AFE intake

    Do it!

No intake systems for the 159 :( no room in the engine bay, air filter is under the front bumper:eek:

I do have my eye on a dual exhaust system from the 2.4;)

    Edit: like this

Few others things like a friend having a life changing accident have lead me to look again at how I'm spending mine. My car gets more love and care then I do and I don't put Shyte into it so I may as well do the same with my body as I can't put it on donedeal if it breaks.

I don't think malnourishing yourself with a liquid-only diet is a great approach. Suggest you have a read of this: http://liamrosen.com/fitness.html#part3

Wanting to take care of yourself is great, but it's a long-term mindset that you have to establish, not something you can fix quickly with extreme measures.

    No patronizing tone intended!

Just back from test driving this:

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/bmw-5-series-520i-automatic-leather/6439370

I want it. A lot. It is ridiculously quiet while cruising at 60 but can shout if you need to overtake, what a difference compared to the Yaris! Full Service History and only 75K Miles. 4K is a bit much in my opinion, I think 3-3.5 is reasonable.

I guess the thing to do in terms of assessing its value - is that okay - 4 k is a bit much - but what would 3 to 3.5 k buy you in terms of 5 series elsewhere.

Or indeed in the private seller arena.

That one does look lovely though :(*

It confirms my preference for the non M sport versions of the E39 5 series :)

    *:( can't justify buying it myself :(

Have had this sort of response from NCT before - aside from them making the offer of a different test centre.

Not sure what the proper procedure is supposed to be - but the last 3 or 4 NCT tests weve booked - they have been unable to give an appointment over the phone there and then - because (it seems) their system doesn't show any available slots.

But then within say 10 days - they can whistle up an appointment out of the blue.

    All very odd tbh

Unfortunately the lads dont know the country very well.. trying to offer Carndonagh to the lads in south donegal when donegal town is only a stone throw away like !

they can see the dates , they can see all the days where there would only be a few cars booked in and the rest would be blocked off to select because they want to put them in under the priority list so that way people will take them and they wont have quiet days

I was thinking that they had slot filling in mind with their system - they've used the priority list thing with me several times now.

I actually asked to be put on it this morning - Cork City is just far too time consuming for us here.

Depending on the time of the day - it could be 3/4 hours out of our day* here with travel (90 mins or so EACH way), time spend waiting at NCT - and if its around dinner time - getting something to eat.

More hassle then its worth - so priority list it was

They probably have slots available at Little Island that they are anxious to fill

Oh dear - ive gone off on a rant :D

*we have a farm as well - so not blessed with time to waste due to NCTs inability to schedule appointments sensibly

That's mad money for what it is. It's an SE spec, with not much else to shout about to be honest. Mileage is on the low side granted, and it does look clean. But that engine is just not worth it in that car. It will guzzle fuel, and for the difference in tax price a 525 would make more sense.

Make sure you get a year's supply of Castrol Edge 0w-30 :pac: I've to top up a litre every 800 miles. (Same M54B22 engine)
