If it's every 5 weeks the next batches will be getting the calls on 12th June and 17th July. Hopefully I get a PCA date and vetting forms soon.

Then our calls in august!! :-)

My minds in over drive since todays job offers :-( what if you're like me, I scored 64 in AC, still waiting on PCA/Vetting etc. Im just thinking here, the second batch are going to be starting in Hotel G soon. What if they fill the spaces before they get to the mid/low 60's? We are out of the game until next recruitment.

Does anyone know how many are in each "intake batch" and how many they are going to take in from this recruitment?

Interesting to see if they "force" us to apply again in May !

You know it's late when I forgot it already is May ffs !

Time will tell, i don't mind so much as long as i don't have to do the IST again! :o

Trying to stay positive. They maybe haven't created all the groups on the online learning yet......

Until I get a dear john letter I'm staying positive.

The best people to tell us how big this next squad is would be the first squad. They could be in GV and be told in x amount of weeks this place is going to get a little busier because x amount of new recruits are starting.

    I'll be applying again......

It's agony not knowing what's going on. And with being told don't email them we just have to wait about

There's been 2 intakes so far, I think someone posted that there was 68 or so in each intake, I'd say we're still in with a shout.

This might just be me being insanely positive though!

Only around 40 in the first one, so plenty out of 378 left!

Just checked the threads again, 48 places in each intake and only 41 made it to the first intake. There's a place there for us if we pass the remaining stages, I'm almost sure of it.

Again this is without any actual information, just a feeling!

Now, if we can just get the 65 and 64's out of the way and get down to the 62's where the real talent is that would be great!

What happened to the other 7?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 518 ✭✭✭oztop1234

I think I read somewhere they are taking squads right up until jan 15. So there is bound to be enough space still

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 380 ✭✭vickmackey

yes, i heard through grapevine that the intakes are defo very small this time -- dunno exact numbers though, sorry...
had thought that this was why they were doing things so slowly...small batches at each stage.

It's no secret that fail and non-attendance rates through the final stages have been enough to affect numbers quite significantly. Just because a few hundred have got the go-ahead for PCA etc doesn't mean that the spaces are all filled.

All of the surrounding info re numbers failing etc aside, I'm looking at it in a simplistic way. The pass e-mail states that everyone passing automatically progresses to the next stages. It's done in merit order, so it's more a matter of when rather than if.

i'd agree! good positive thinking -- its stressful enough.
i have my PCA date and I know that nothing is certain....i'm training hard 5 days a week (as i always have), but know 1 stupid mistake could put me out, as it could for so many....plus the vetting forms alone would put some people off.!!.... if you are still waiting, at any stage of this process, then you are still in the running !:)

No point being negative when the situation could be much worse ie. not managing to make it this far and another drive being years away.

For us still waiting - for me, it feels like the time has flown by, for the most part, since I put my application in last year. We're in with a shout in this campaign and then a new one is opening late this month. Before we know it, we'll be going through the motions of this 2014/15 campaign opening whilst being hopefully progressed through the remaining stages of the 2013/14 campaign. Busy few months to come and nothing to be negative about in my opinion.

The same person who informed me about the 2014/15 campaign beginning late May had stated that it was most likely that not enough numbers were on this merit list to fulfil the numbers. They were right about the May campaign and I'm quietly confident they're correct on the latter, too.

Thats great news for everyone still waiting if thats the case.

Stay positive, smash your fitness and our time will come.

We will all be going through GV together.

Another few weeks and more of us will hear :-)

I booked a holiday before the recruitment opened, heading off v soon. Would've cancelled it if I was lucky enough to get the call obviously, but been worrying about the time outta the gym. Found out the hotel has a "small gym" and it made my day! Lol our time will come :-)

Page 7 will clear up the speculation:

A second recruitment campaign will begin at the end of May 2014 to appoint 378 new police officers.

Campaign 1 has been completed and resulted in a merit list of 727 candidates who will continue to be assessed on physical competency, vetting, medical, substance misuse and online learning.

Whether campaign 1 was for the apparent 100 + 378 or only 378, I'd say that leaves anyone left with a decent shout with non-attendance and fail rates.

Interesting. Thanks for this! :-) m

Happy with this. Scored 65. Def in with a shout :-)

    How do you feel?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 197 ✭✭Jb12345

727 candidates in the merit list. High enough then. But with the amount failing PCA and then a few after in the other stages I would be surprised if the number was nearly halved...

I'm sitting on a 62, so not as confident as I'd like to be. Unfortunately, I made an absolute muck up of the final report. I may be waiting for a few months yet to be processed, but sure what's a few months when you've been waiting this long already!

Guess it depends on whether they are taking 478 or 378. If it was the former, I'd feel a lot more confident. The pass e-mail states 378, but as discussed previously all the reports pointed to 100 being secured under 2013/14 budget and 378 under this year, so 478 total.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 165 ✭✭missyme82

So that means 10% of initial applicants made it to the merit list. Dunno bout you guys but I am super proud of myself to be somewhere in that 10% at 64 im not very high but hey im here :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 518 ✭✭✭oztop1234

We are all in with a shout.....

I'll be applying again. It is 478. I've had that confirmed.

As long as we pass PCA should be in

If it's 478, I'm much more confident. Say if 90% attend PCA and 70% pass, you're in the appointable band by default.

The delay batch are getting a hard time of this drive with all the waiting, ha! Will make it even more sweeter if we make it.

So a further 378 officers from the new May campaign in addition to this 478?
