Eurovision is a bit of a joke nowadays anyway...it's all about countries voting for their neighbours.

We had a great run for a while, but I wouldn't be too pushed about competing any more, tbh.
    Sounds like a broken mp3 cd record from 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, .....
Put a tune to it and enter next year.

Makes me chuckle, all our neighbours are automatically in the final so don't even care about the semis.
Now we are as insignificant to the rest of middle and eastern Europe as FYRAzerRusatio is to us.

Unless we send a really stand out song, they are going to give us as many votes as we give them.

And yet the majority of countries are happy to enter year in year out without moaning why they are being ignored even more so than the FormerEurovisionRepublic of Ireland

Why are the majority of the songs in English? Even the German song. Why are the Germans singing in a foreign language. Does the whole of Europe speak English now?

Who did they send this year? Not the traveller girl from The Voice or Johnathan Hart again? I stopped watching Eurovision years ago

Just watched it on youtube the dancer's what was that about,i have a feeling they probably ruined it for her,was never gonna win but expected it to qualify, though personally im glad nobody has to see that dancing again.

Why is is shocking that we didn't go through? The song was very forgettable and was just dull. We think we're sending great modern songs when really we haven't a clue. Lipstick did well for a reason because they stood out, so did the song and it was something you'd hear in the charts (it was in the top 20 in some countries, #1 here and even #8 in South Korea).

Every year that we fail to qualify for this crapfest should be seen as another step towards progress and reform.

Not sure if you are talking to me or a previous poster but i never said it was shocking,i said the song was no good and had no chance.
I merely pointed out that the dancing guy's made it a whole lot worse so it might have qualified without them doing their thing.

I think RTE et al need to completely re-think how they approach the Eurovision, and maybe consider saving some money and not bother with it for a while.
The way the voting goes now, even if they sent U2 with Riverdance jumping around behind them, they would be lucky to get anywhere.

MEGA - Make Éire Great Again

I'm disappointed we won't be seeing Kasey on Saturday wearing dresses that compliment her fantastic boobs. We probably had the best-looking female contestant.

Was watching it tonight with a german ad spanish friend. They liked the dancing but not in "skirts".....they didnt like the background or the singer. The song was just average. Not particularly good and didn't standout in anyway. Even when watching eurosong......it was the most eurovision-y of the bunch but did anyone actually standback detatch themselves from national pride and say this will be a real contender to win the eurovision.

    Moral victory.

Didn't watch it for the first time in years. Our song was absolute muck. Felt sorry for Ryan Dolan last year, one of the best songs in the competition and it came last in the final. I know I'm speaking uninformed as I actually haven't seen the rest of the acts but I'm not at all surprised that we didn't reach the final this year, it was dreadful.

Apart from the Polish babes at the very least. They are the only ones I saw but were hot. And busty.

And since when are Armenia, Azerbaidjan, Georgia and Israel in Europe?

And since when are Armenia, Azerbaidjan, Georgia and Israel in Europe?

They're in the EBU. This vexed question, and Marty Whelan's hilarious disappointment, make every year a pleasure. :D

That dude with the beard in the dress is just weird. Really, really weird.

For those that didn't see. Here you go:

He was trying to look like a woman so why the beard?

I watched some of the semi final today and im really quite shocked we dint get in. They let a man with a beard in a dress get in and we who had a good song didn't get in? Seems when Ireland takes it seriously we don't get far.

In fairness we had a forgettable mediocre song and a mediocre singer.
I really do not understand why RTE continue to waste money on the Eurovision other than to keep Marty Whelan, Derek Mooney et al happy.

Because it's a bit of fun. In most other countries that take part they aren't as cool as hip Ireland, who are too cool for school and therefore see some harmless fun as old hat.

Remember the RTE show The Hit, that produced a much higher caliber of song than Eurosong.
That may be a better vehicle for getting that 3 minute hit.

So, virtually, Australia and New Zealand can enter the Eurosong Contest should they join the EBU :p

What a difference 20 years makes.

From a genuinely great two piece song on a piano winning to a cross dressing, bearded, Jesus look-alike as the current favourite.

No doubt the competition has gone to shambles but we really didn't do ourselves any favours with our entry!

First the Polish gives us a great little 'thank you Ireland' video and then they go and stick some sexy butter-churners and hand-washers in to the Eurovision.

What a great bunch of ****ing lads altogether. 'Hon Poland!
