raspbmc media files

I want to try transfer some media files to raspbmc sd card. i have tried to do this with filezilla via ftp. i have tried twice and created a new folder the second time. i cannot find the file in raspbmc but the new folder is there yet when i navigate to the folder in filezilla the file is there. any ideas. i really want to…

ok figured this out the files are not listed but when you add source they appear. now however when i play the music file i have no sound, any ideas
