According to my last Sailrail ticket:

"CHECK-IN TIME is 30 minutes before departure."

Also I recommend paying the extra €18 for the top deck lounge. You can always make it back with all the complimentary smoked salmon and croissants up there :p Just makes the voyage over all much quieter, more comfortable and more scenic.

    Dear applegreen,

your fuel is bad and you should feel bad.

    not so kind regards,
    KSL.

Dear RSA, Department of transport and relevant bodies,

Please remove applegreen period and replace with better garages such as maxol and texaco.

    kind regards,
    KSL.

Closest applegreen is about 130KM away from me... what's so bad about them?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,428 ✭✭✭Dartz

    ****ing truth.

It seems suspicious. Some people seem fine with it. Some cars seem to lose a fair bit of MPG for some reason, or start feeling sluggish.

What the ****'s the difference between Applegreens and good fuel?

I fill up at Esso or Topaz most of the time.

I get the most range out of Applegreen petrol. Least from Esso.

Veg oil at €1.35 a litre :pac:

I don't think Applegreen is noticeably worse, but to be honest I haven't worked it out. My motorway driving tends to vary between 110-130 depending on the limit and my mood :P, so I'll have to check it out properly. My car is FlexiFuel too, so might be better able to handle a variation in fuel quality. ie: rubbish MPG ALL the time...

Actually, is it true that an LPG conversion is far easier if you car can run on E85 to begin with?

I use topaz 90% of the time esso the rest. I would be very slow to use anything else. Although the golf with its 1.9tdi engine probably wouldn't be as fussy as the focus was. If the diesel was anyway bad the focus would absolutely drink it. No applegreen in kilkenny so I don't need to worry there.

the best fuel economy i get is from Maxol in both petrol and diesel !

i remember my civic would run more economical on maxol than the esso 300 meters down the road !

but i remember one event in the Civic, in 2011 a 2007 1.4DSi civic, very new car, always serviced on time etc. filled up once in a applegreen, was driving on the motorway and the car felt really bad, very sluggish and was struggling to keep 120KM/h on the motorway, pretty much at the foot down to keep her going... the economy was bad... when it was near enough empty i went to a texaco garage , spawell and the thing was fecking flying after putting petrol in there, felt more responsive and better acceleration and could get to speed easily..... but the best was BP ultimate petrol, much higher octane.. car ran much better on that but rarely got to use it since we dont have it here !

for diesel i've often use Topaz and found it alright, not too fond of esso but again the best diesel was BP clean diesel , was the most economical and the car ran great on it, 50 quid got me a long long way !

but i've been using maxol diesel lately and am finding it very good !

so although i wish BP were here with amazing fuel, i shall use maxol as a first choice and avoid applegreen like the plague !

Ah right I know the garage all right. But I never knew they are apple green.

We've a white tank at home so we're not doing too bad! Applegreen on the Ennis road out of Limerick has the name of the cheapest around, evidently for a reason.

    How do Topaz compare?

There are a few nice ones around alright but I'd much rather pay the extra 100 quid in tax for the 3.0

Doubt i would lover and space a car again myself tbh.

    Looks good but...

Once you're on 18's with low profile tyres you're fúcked either way tbh. Putting on coils / springs tends to even improve over factory comfort at that stage.
Has anyone ever travelled from Birmingham to Holyhead here?

I've done Pembroke to Dover, and Pembroke/Holyhead to Bridport. You always just seem to make more progress on motorways in the UK, despite the limit being 70mph.

As tossy said, 3 hours should about cover it. Give yourself a bit of time for traffic jams and a coffee break, I've usually been travelling at silly hours so roads were dead quiet (3-7am) but if you get into bad traffic on the ring roads around major cities, you can be there a while inching along.

Bit of a problem with the Mondeo, more noticeable today. Going over ramps, or sometimes potholes there is a big knock from the rear drivers side. I know that it could be a variety of problems, drop links were suggested, bushings, suspension.... don't really know what to make of it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,729 ✭✭✭✭CianRyan

Yes to the noise, no to the American't style drifting.

MOAR entry spread, MOAR sideways, MOAR exciting. Please.
Can't believe how early that M3 started shedding speed for the first bend, you couldn't pull that ****e at Ebisu or Meihan, you'd have the whole track put your hole!

Turn up the radio and avoid bumps ;)

It's amazing what you hear in your car if you drive for a few days with no music/radio playing. I remember when doing my christmas exams (January 2013) I had no radio in the Levin. I was full sure the gearbox was about to explode and the engine was going to seize. Then when I refitted the radio all was well again :D
