ADSL2+ Contention issues AGAIN!

    Hi all,

I am in West Limerick, connected to the newcastle exchange via a cabinet outside my housing estate, service provided by Vodafone

    My stats are:

    Attenuation down 27
    Profile 15mb
    SN margin down 6.5
    CEC packet loss 0
    HEC packet loss 0

Eircom engineer confirms the line is fine, and max attainable is 19mb.

For the last few evenings I am having awful contention issues, starting about 5pm and going on until 1 am. Pings go up from 30ms to 100ms, speed goes from 13mb to 3mb. The speed is tested with a multi thread test tester, and the ping goes to boards.ie and heanet.ie

Can this be expected from ADSL2+? Vodafone again tell me that it is a contention free service, but that has to be BS.

Any ideas, or am I screwed until fibre arrives?

    Ken

It's likely a backhaul issue at the exchange. All you can do is to keep raising it with Vodafone.
