What leads people to take heroin? I've done a few drugs in my time but not a hope I would take it seeing what it does to people. I'm genuinely interested in why people do.

Some people try it because they're depressed. I know that when I was at my lowest I would have taken it if it was offered to me.

Damn shame, now where is my belt so I can off and do a Michael Hutchence.

This opinion that is the stupidest, most ignorant, witless and insensitive I have read on Boards since the Madeline Mc Cann jokes.
    Congrats muppet.

In the other thread that got locked people were saying how likely a drug overdose was. Only to be met with harsh "HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT?!" comments. Well here we are.

It's sad what happened to the woman. But she brought it on herself.

In the other thread, some people were creaming themselves with speculation that it was a drug overdose and good enough for the little madam.

The "how do you know that?" comments were reasonable, because at the time of the other thread, no one knew. Now we do. And she's still dead and her people still wretched sad over it.

It might not affect your lives but seeing this on the news may make a young person who is about to take drugs think twice.

I highly doubt she set out in life planning to die from a drug overdose.

Peaches Geldof died of a heroin overdose, it is expected to be announced tomorrow.

It has been claimed that results of a toxicology report will be announced by detectives in the morning, as an inquest into the mother-of-two's death is opened and adjourned.

The 25-year-old, daughter of Sir Bob Geldof, was found dead at her country home earlier this month in what was described by police as a 'non-suspicious' and 'sudden unexplained' death.

The Times reports that police discovered no evidence of drugs paraphernalia in the house, triggering suspicions that the house may have been searched and items removed prior to their arrival.

Her 11-month-old son was believed to have been in the home with Peaches when she died.

hmmmm, appears someone tried a clean-up job before the police arrived ;)

Agreed, extend it to her poor family, reliving the death of their mother, and having a second generation who have to cope with that manner of death.

I genuinely don't get the hate on here for the "celebrity" personality, this was a woman who appeared to have a very stable family life after an incredibly difficult childhood, who has died a very early and tragic death impacting on others for years.

I was really hoping it was natural causes, truly believed she was a wonderful mother, more like poor little rich girl, no sympathy for a person that abuses heroin, especially if they are a parent.

You see from that she comes across as a down to earth and articulate woman, not like the gowl sitting beside her. I'd actually seen a bit of that on youtube when it was in the most popular and thought she wasn't a typical brain dead celebrity.

Sad how it turned out in the end.

Does anybody really give a ****?? It won't affect my life so don't care tbh. She knew what she was taking and the risks that came with it. Live by the sword and all that.

Of all the topics to post on here in AH this evening (of which there are many), you chose this one. You cared so little about this news story that you skimmed though all the threads on AH (of which there are quite a few), this one obviously caught your eye, you opened it, read the OP, probably clicked on the link (I'd bet my liver you did, in fact), clicked "Post" and took your time to type this out and your trying to tell us you don't give a ****?

    Eh...yyyeah.

I really don't care as this does not affect my life one iota but why is this even news? She died how long ago? Dead and buried.

Why being up her overdose now? Does it change the loss her family have suffered? Her children? Nope.

    Gutter journalism.

3rd generation for Bob, his mother died when he was young as well. Not of an overdose, but still. It's a lot for one man to bear in a lifetime, mother (ex)wife and daughter all gone.

I forgot that, she died of an aneurysm

mother, wife and daughter all lost early.

Hard to imagine how the man copes with all those losses

Why the **** would you take heroin when you have 2 little kids that need looking after? No matter what problems you may have, you don't do that.

She can't have been in the right mental state though. It's impossible for any of us who are not in that position to empathise. I really doubt she took it just for shits and giggles. None of us know what she might've been going through.

People on this thread seem to think mental health and drug use just magically disappear if you have children i guess.

    Robert Frost managed.

I guess expressing grief through an art form is a way to cope and deal with it.

Mental health problems coupled with an addiction probably.

I once went through a very dark period of living and struggled to see anything good about life.

I remember sitting in my hall and my dog coming up to me and giving me a funny cuddle like he knew something was wrong, and trying to help me.

It gave me enormous comfort and the means to deal with the next day etc.

Sometimes just living is very hard

Never said that, in this day and age, everyone knows what heroin does to you, there's no excuse. she seen what it did to her mother, not everything is about mental health, She had the means to get clean. I hate how mental health is brought into absolutely everything these days, maybe she was just a selfish woman who thought she could get away with taking heroin whilst she looked after her kids.
