Do you know why Alfa owners don't greet each other on the road?

They've met in the morning at the mechanic's :pac:

Ladies, do ye think that the rust on this is a bit much for a 6 year old car, or am I over reacting? Was taking a look underneath the other day and was wondering...

    Is it a swimmer?
Looks nasty but I'd say a wire brush and a can of Kurust will sort it.

Looks a lot to me - I wouldn't be happy to see that on a 6 year old car (for perspective - 6 years old means a 08 now :mad::mad:)

No, never near any sea water or submerged in floods or anything like that. Note that it is a UK import, and was only bought in here less than 2 years ago, with the salt and what not... It was a motorway cruiser over there, around the London area.

On a 7 year old Nissan Micra. Another UK import. Lots of surface rust on the subframe

By swimmer I meant was it imported.
I knew it was English! The salty roads kills cars.

Its not too bad but as an example my old FTO which was 17 years old and not undersealed did not have as much rust as that.

Why/How are they so salty anyway?

    Oh right :o

So do ye think I should tackle it? With the wire brush and kurust stuff... or just leave it!

The Brits use higher percentage of rock salt than our buckos when they grit the roads. I've seen it more with cars brought from the north of England or Scotland than from around London though.

    Colder winters than us.

I would be worried about that rust. You always see as bit on the suspension but admittedly that is a bit more than you'd normaslly see. Still It would be far worse if it was on the chassis.
