More supercars than classics here in Lausanne, Switzerland, and most things are being driven when I see them. But managed to get a shot of this Fiat 124

I had one of these as my first car, nobody in our family drove and I got a fiat 127 as part payment for painting a house.

My first driving lesson was collecting it and driving it home, no licence, no insurance, no tax.

I then spent 6 months learning to drive it in the lane at the back of our house and saving for tax and insurance.

I saw one for sale today on adverts and to be honest I was tempted to make an offer.

Great to drive and simple to work on, not that a lot went wrong with it in the 2 years I had it.

Yep. Those things are confusing people as much as late Bay and Beetles from Brazil and Mexico :) Bay production only stopped last year in Brazil.

Apparently this is the actual car used in the series, and was owned by David Hasselhoff until recently ...hence the reg plate 'David Hasselhoff KITT. (The licence plate was valid until Nov 2013 btw)

I overheard a conversation about the car...it seems Hasselhoff donated it to some charity (and presumably it has been/will be sold on to a private collector). Note how the doors have been changed to 'lambo style' since the series.

    $152,600

Many of the items to be featured in the auction appear on the highly anticipated new unscripted series “Celebrity Home Raiders.” The new series premieres on Lifetime Television on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT with Hasselhoff’s episode airing the next week, Thursday, March 13th at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT. This entire episode is devoted to Hasselhoff, when host Kit Hoover along with auctioneers Darren Julien and Martin Nolan reminisce about his career as they search through his collection of beloved treasures to be auctioned for his favorite charity, the Starlight Foundation. The television show gives viewers a chance to see him talk about his personal KITT car and discuss the history and sentiment of some of his personal memorabilia going into the Hollywood Legends auction.

Was this on the Late Late last Friday? If so, I could have sworn the guy who brought it in said it wasn't actually used in the series itself....

Yes it was and that is what he said. I think he mentioned something about a group of enthusiasts building it as a replica and gifting it to Hoffman.
