I can't agree. I think the ej9 was slightly nicer, bar the rear lights on the saloon . Most ej9's came with a factory fitted sunroof which made a difference to the appearance of the car. Jap Ek's are rarely seen with a sunroof.

I've never been bothered with sun roofs, it's all or nothing and nothing in between for me. ;)

I know which I'd rather, even without taking the 197bhp B16 into account...

Yeah I have to say, I'm not happy about that closure.
Not everything needs a thread of it's own and that was a great outlet for the little jobs and the chats that go with it.

    BRING IT BACK, I SAY!!

    Here here

Not everyone wants to start a thread about changing a few little bits, I'm all for change but jaypers lads, that's a bad move

Are you for real? Your not comparing like for like and your argument is baseless. Go back and compare that ej9 to it's jap equivalent, the ek2

It's still the better looking car.
The grill for a start is much better looking, I hate the tacky chrome-esq plastic the Euro models got.

Id actually prefer the euro grill. Imo its not tacky at all but everyone has different tastes I suppose.

    Good point TP...

I'm not going to make a project thread for my car because I don't do enough to warrant one at all, but yet I like doing a few small write ups now and then for you guys to see. (Like the scratch removal the other day etc.)

Very bad move IMO and one I hope gets reversed.

Not a thread I took part in much but I presume it was closed to promote the DIY / Project forums that we asked for.

I can understand people not wanting to start a whole new thread when they change a wiper so the obvious thing to do would be to have a TIDSTMC thread in DIY.

Or that new sub forum could just be called GARAGE and everyone could make a thread about their car. My car isn't DIY or a project. I originally thought it was for owners cars not just projects. I'm sure it'll get sorted. I haven't really frequented any of the sub forums but I used to click on the various threads at times.

It'll be locked down and you'll get a telling off.

In other news I was driving an MG ZT V8 in Aberdeen today. NICE

A fast grandad. I wouldn't mind being old and smoking around in one!

Whats the main motors forum even used for now?

Nothing very motoring related that I can think of.

Really stupid move closing that thread.

Everything seems to be split into separate forums now. Buying, Diy, Audio and upgrades etc. The main motors forum serves for very little nowadays imo and has gotten very quiet as of late.

There's a fair difference between a "project car" and just doing a little bit of work on your daily. And tbh DIY is mainly for DIY advice/issues.

Another stupid decision the overall forum didn't want or need.

Maybe not. There's no mention that a new "I did something to my car" thread is a no-no - just a hint to use other sub-forum for it.

I'd be happy to open a thread, but unfortunately I did nothing to my car recently. :(

So I have an issue similar to this in my S60. It was annoying the hell out of me so I wanted to get it repaired. Then I went on to Adverts and saw this. Then I borrowed my buddys one of these and drove from Limerick to Finglas to collect. I'm delighted with it. 50 bucks for a spanking new (to me) interior! Will be fitting it tomorrow as I'm crippled from driving that horrible Santa Fe all weekend but it was soooo worth it!

Before and after pics to follow :D

Also, I am trying to get hold of one of these and cant for the life of me get my hands on one that isn't a ridiculous price or isn't already broken like mine. Very common that the doors break on these in Volvos apparently. To be honest, for such a well build and sturdy machine, there is a few flimsy, cheap like parts like this in the car.

Try do a search using the part number only. That's worked for me when looking for parts.

So today this happened to my golf :(
Beyond gutted it was such a clean car and now the whole back of its wrecked. Bumper marked deep enough the boot is dinted in several places paint gone and back to the metal in two places. I dont even know what I'm going to do :(
To make it worse I didn't do it my dad borrowed the car to tow a trailer and some how done this when putting it on I don't know how but he did but he did.

Anyone any advice I'm not sure if it will be too expensive to be worth fixing. I suppose to repair it right you'd be spraying the bumper and boot and fixing the dents. Anyone have any kind of ballpark figure as to what it would cost ? It really ruined my day when I washed it it actually looked worse . It looks far worse in reality than in the pictures. So disappointed but the damage is done.

Bags. Maybe you can get a matching boot door from a breakers?
It doesn't look that bad in the pics though.
