Make GPX files downloadable

I have uploaded some gpx (walking routes) onto my website. I have linked to them and the links work fine (in that it gives the option to open or save) when clicked from a PC, but when opened from my iPhone it just shows up as a lot of numbers with no option to save the file. How can I have it ask to save the file when…

Thanks for reply, but still not working with Safari on iPhone. Here is what i am getting when I click on the download Button.
