best console for 5 year old

    Hi there, Not quiet the correct forum but I was wondering what would be the best console to get a 5 year old boy as a first console
    Looking for something portable/ handheld.

    He has used a DS before at a friends and seemed to like that.
    Decent age appropriate games.
    Maybe purchase second hand.

    any suggestions wellcome.

    Nintendo DS lite, DSi or 3DS consoles would be best suited for a 5 year old and most of the games for the DS series are designed for kids.
