phoning a Irish mobile

    Anyone know what the code is to ring a mobile in Ireland from the states.

    Thats not correct. US / Canada use 011 as their international prefix so you need to dial 011353.

    Best to store all your numbers as +353 where the + will be substituted with the carrier's international prefix automatically so the same number can be dialed from the UK / USA without changing it.

    It's 011 353 then drop the leading zero from the mobile number, eg if the mobile number is 087 123 4567, then you would dial 011 353 87 123 4567 from the US.

    This is spot on, store ALL your Irish numbers as +353 xxxx xxx (UK numbers as +44 xx xx) etc.) and you won't have to worry no matter where you are dialling from, even if you are in Ireland - that's precisely what the '+' is for.

    Exceptions would be the likes of Irish 1 850 xx xx and UK 0845 xx xx numbers which can only be dialled within the country.

    You only need to worry about international access codes like '00' or '011' when dialling from a landline, '+' as a prefix works from mobile phones in every country in the world.
