Defining an alias or abbreviation in MS Word

Is there a way to define alias/abbreviation in MS Word? Let's say I want letters GL to be expanded to GNU/Linux. Vim command "ab" [1] does that, but I'm forced to use MS Word. [1] http://vim.wikia.com/wiki/Using_abbreviations P.S. It is called AutoCorrect…

You can do it through autocorrect if I'm not mistaken. go to tools > Autcorrect...

and fill out the "Replace" and "With" fields with the shorthand and full phrase respectively. Add the rule and as long as autocorrect is enabled, it will replace the shortand with the full phrase as you type.
