On my phone so not sure if the image is showing correctly, view of the stadium from my room in the extremely posh ibis budget. :p

Toulon is a class place, I love French rugby fans. Very welcoming and always up for a bit of banter. The supporters village they have set up was great Craic yesterday. Have been treated to the pilou pilou a couple times already, can't wait to hear it in the stadium later.

Hugely nervous for the match but really looking forward to it. It might be one of those special day's!

Sit on the fence, draw into that deep well of cliches, and hope that rugby is the winner on the day :o

Seriously, you will have great fun watching Leinster v Munster from a pub in Provence.

A friend of mine took a punt a few weeks back and booked flights/hotel for the south of France for that weekend, €300 per couple, after yesterday he's certainly hoping Toulon do it today. He said, one way or the other he's taking the weekend break there.

Same for me. If the match happens and I get tickets then I've saved a fortune on flights. If not, still a holiday in a decent spot of the world! With the Velodrome getting renovated the temporary capacity is under 50,000 so there's no guarantee I would get tickets!

I'd prefer to be in Provence if we lose that match!

Leinster have absolutely no chance. They get away with MOC's dire coaching in the Rabo but they will be completely found out against a side with the quality of Toulon. Injuries and selection decisions haven't helped at all.

And if Leinster lose badly to Toulon then I fear what will happen to Munster. Leinster of 2009-2012 would beat Toulon, but things have changed. The loss of Sexton, Nacewa and SOB is absolutely huge. Literally 3 of the most important players alongside BOD. Then the loss of Schmidt and appointment of MOC.... The less said about that the better.

Right so I suppose we should just pack our bags and go home. Don't even know why we bothered trying to qualify for the knockout stages if we would never have a chance. Let's just roll over and give the trophy to Clermont, munster, or Toulon. Let's sack MOC and never speak of rugby again.

    Leinster to win by 7-10

I really don't understand not picking Luke, he'd be in my first 15 and then starting Gopperth when he hasn't started a game in ages, makes me wonder.

Before yesterday I wanted the three provinces to win anyway but now that we got through I want a trip to the Aviva as I certainly won't make the south of France. So G'wan Leinster

Luke is injured, there's no other explanation. It would be hands down the worst coaching decision I've ever seen if he's fit and excluded from the 23

Ugh, I would not make a good professional sports person, I get serious nerves on game days when all that's required of me is to sit on my arse and stare at the telly. :(

I'm finding it really tough to get up for this game too, I'm crippled with doubt and dread, not usual for me either. I just hope, HOPE we can make it in at half time within three points.

The tension is killing me. Jesus even the thoughts of a semi against Munster might be the death of me, I can't take all this stress.

Come on Matt, COME ON LEINSTER! Let's do this. This game doesn't just define the season, it really sets the bar for where we are under MOC too, this is the first real no holds barred test of the season. Vindicate those selections and bring us back to Lansdowne for an epic showdown.

Deep breaths Jackass. I'm the same though. Have butterflies in my stomach thinking about it. How the players get a decent nights sleep before big games is beyond me

He's not injured, he was in The Black Door on Friday night and said he wasn't injured.

Have you thought about seeing a sports fan psychologist*?

They can help with dealing with the nerves by helping you create emotional triggers for you to focus on to create a more confident and focused fan.

    *they may not exist :P

I hate to break it to you but this is going to be the game where Leinster get found out. Leinster are so far from the team they were under Schmidt. The Rabo wins have been papering over massive cracks.

Being injured doesn't equal hobbling around on crutches

He specifically said that he's not injured.

bahaha, nice idea!! :D I will let you know if they exist, maybe they do group sessions and we can organise something on boards!

By the way, if anyone is still in Dublin (I hope there's ridiculous numbers of Leinster fans over there), come to Kileys to watch the game and maybe a cheeky pint. I'll be the one in the Leinster jersey holding a bouquet of lavender and a rose on my lapel.

Very convenient obviously but what you're suggesting is he didn't even travel to Toulon as back-up to the back 3. Which would be very hard to believe as he is a player with top class experience in both the centre and every position in the back 3 and supposedly isn't injured.

Surely if Fitzgerald isn't injured he would be over with the squad as backs cover not in nightclubs in Dublin on the Friday night a few days before the game?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,193 ✭✭✭[Jackass]

I wouldn't be surprised if MOC did his usual...

"Dave Kearney pulled up in the warm up with a twinge and has been withdrawn as a precautionary measure, so Luke Fitzgerald has been drafted in to the first team with Zane Kirchner retaining his place on the bench"

I'm not sure if we're going to win but I think it's going to be close run either way.

We've a strong front, second, and back row well able to compete with any team out there. I think we've got a stronger tight five to be honest, I mean who is this Choicci chap? He doesn't even have a Wikipedia page :P

Our lineout is very good and our scrum is good. We've probably a better line out than them actually as we've jumpers all over the place and Strauss is an excellent thrower.

In the backrow it's only Lobbe that is the stand out.

Halfbacks Reddan is playing very well and Gopperth is the equal of Wilknison and has shown against Castres that he can play.

Centres are evenly matched and so are the back 3's.

We've plenty to be confident about going into this game.

I'm not a stranger to him, not a friend either but have mutual friends.

I dont really see the point of lying about it anonymously on an internet forum.

If Fitz was 100% he'd be in the squad. He offers more cover than Kirchner for example. It's somewhat possible to consider him not starting but I find it impossible to believe he'd be dropped altogether if he was 100%.
