Thanks to Padraic from Leitrim for that fine insight to Irish politics..

You'd swear we lived in North Korea or something... All of these people WERE ELECTED... Somebody looked at Michael Lowry on the ballot sheet beside the other candidates and said to themselves "Will I vote for who I think will do the best for my own personal interests, or will I vote for somebody of integrity who will do the best for the common good"... And they made the decision to vote with the best option for themselves..

So if you think that the people in the Dáil are "inauthentic", they are a good reflection of the "inauthenticity" of the Irish people..

Although you don't want your kids to go away, I doubt they share the same sentiment listening to her.

Oul Greg doesn't sound as cheery as he does when reporting on the golf.

I can see why the husband works on the far side of the planet

    Totally understand

The economy is not to blame in her instance.

Anyone who rings up a pretend socialist, embedded in the establishment and receiving an obscene amount of money from the taxpayer for doing very little is - to me - inauthentic!

As far as I can see the only reason why Dubliners want an elected mayor:

    1) Have gardaí on the streets and shamed into keeping the streets free from violent attacks, drug taking, and other crimes.

    2) To stop calling him/her the "Lord" Mayor.

Not any more, he's gone all warm and fuzzy, kissing kittens and patting puppies

Did Joe just mention North Korea? He's obviously reading the thread.

    Hi Joe, how's the leg

Joe just avoided war with North Korea, that was close.

To punish them, we should always refer to their council as Finglas and NOT "County Fingal."

    That'll learn them.
