UPC Routers Bypassing User Configured DNS

For years I used opendns DNS to filter sites. I do it at the router level to cover all device in the propertyand with people coming and going.
I use 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 as primary and secondary DNS.
I log onto the router (EPC) and enter through router web interface.
    Everything ok.

Then I switch to the Samsung horizon box. All ok for a few months. then it stops working .. and my wifi goes flaky (Ethernet is trouble-free). I ring up and eventually they fess up that there is some software patch problem and hardware problem affecting wifi nationally and they de-consolidate broadband from tv/phone and send me out a new broadband router (tc7200).

But it still ignores any DNS settings I enter. Support guy fobs me off.

If I apply the DNS settings directly on any PC and it works no problem. But when I do it at the router level, not working. It's as if UPC have reconfigured something to ignore DNS requests coming from the router. Is that possible?

has anyone seen this? UPC support don't seem to understand. How do I get to talk to someone in there who does?

    thanks

I have the same issue too. Anyone solve this problem or do you have to set DNS on devices always?

Sounds like it could be related to the free wifi service. Making sure that people who connect into the SSID get UPC DNS at all costs.
