I'm on BT broadband in NI at present, on ADSL2 about 1.1Km from exchange. I had some problems with them using a very conservative profile (now changed) and I downloaded Routerstats light to see if things were stable.

Download noise margin is currently ~ 14, this could probably be reduced to get some more speed. This is generally pretty stable, but there are periodic dips, what sort of thing would cause this?

All the dips seem to hit a perfect 0 each time so don't think it's a burst of noise, it's likely router stats just didn't get a reading from the modem at that time or else you connection dropped and reset.
