I have a WiiU, well the younger brother has it but it's really mind as i convinced him to get it instead of a PS4.
We had a blast playing 4 player Mario 3D - pure chaos.
Wasn't too pushed on Wonderful 101 though.

Game pad is great but becomes a bit redundant in local multiplayer games. And the hassle and complexity of multiplayer games in regards to remotes is annoying.

Can't wait for Mario Kart and Smash Bros., really lacking for them kind of multiplayer stuff.
Couldn't get Nintendoland for a decent price anywhere. 50 quid in gamestop! Xtravision had nothing!

Tank! Tank! Tank! would be a good timefill in terms of multiplayer if you can find it for cheap. I can only vouch for the arcade version, but believe the Wii-U version translates well. I actually think this would've been a borderline system-seller if they'd stuck on an online multiplayer, and, well, fleshed it out, as reports seem to indicate its strengths lie solely in its local multiplayer.

Isn't tank tank tank free on eshop for the basic game as long as you are online and don't launch it more than 3 times a day?

I was just catching up with my points surveys. Should all games come with a Nintendo clubs point card? Two sealed games (both WB Games) didn't have one in the pack.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

WB games don't. I got a Darksiders 2 with no points in it last year, ninty support sorted it but gave me a list of games that should come with points, they singled WB out as not being on the list. Neither Arkham City nor Injustice had points in 'em when I bought them.

Well, there's a delightful nugget to my otherwise ****ty day. Thank you, fine Banjo, long may you pluck.

Just to update on this, it's brilliant, had a good blast on multiplayer, but it's 3 plays of any mode and then you're locked out 'til tomorrow; all together, it's about 15 minutes of game a day.

Buy any of the add ons - and you know you're going to start with gorilla mode - and it removes the 3 goes limit and online requirement I think

I did this! Game would be so good with online play, it's a pity. Was gonna pick up the full version in physical format, it was about £15 on Amazon a while back I believe but it's £21 at the moment :( Worth the free download anyway to mess around with.

Quick question - apart from the Blue Shell statue, does the Limited Edition version of Mario Kart 8 differ from the regular one in any way? Extra tracks, Online titles, Playable characters etc etc?

'Cause I don't see that blue shell ever being worth £20.

Smyths have it worth €5 ;).

But no, I think that's the only difference.

However, my mad quest for Nintendo merchandise will see me buy it anyway. This is the same quest that has had me get 4 of the McDonalds toys so far, without having eaten their food in about 8 years.

Thanks for the tip! So, after a quick spin around the usual suspects (Amazon, Game, Ninty's shop, ) Smyths have the best price - by a full 12 euro - for the collectors edition, but with no bonus bits (keyring, tshirt, wheel). Ironically, 12 euro is about what the wheel will cost you at retail. And it's a fair price for a T-Shirt. Free gift my ass!

Base have the best price for the solo game (only just) but again, no mention of bonus stuff. Having said that, if you pay the extra euro to buy from Game you get the Wheel.

In short, solo game from Game with the Wheel for ~€48 euro seems like the best value. Unless you don't want the wheel. God damn it's so complicated

BTW, Base have Assassin's creed IV for £16 + delivery.

I was gonna buy MK8 on launch from a shop so I could play it that day. Really looking forward to it but tbh with all this messin about I'm tempted just to preorder it at the cheapest price I can find online and wait the couple of weeks for delivery just so I dont have to go through a hundred questions with a shop on the day.

Just looking at some videos on YouTube. There's are piles of decent looking indie games coming to the wii u this year. Great way of passing time between big releases.
Some cool looking shoot em ups, racing and RPG's.
If any of them are half as good as nano assault it should be a great year!

Posted this in the Mario Kart thread too, but I think its of interest generally as well.

    Twitter-IGN-If-you-re-a-Nintendo-fan-you-....png

It's since been confirmed to be Mario Kart news via IGN on the Neogaf forum:

“Sorry about that everyone. It’s just Mario Kart 8 you guys. Hype should still be justified. That is all.”

Still pretty interesting. Any ideas what it could be?

They just had a blow out of info today, and a lot of cool videos.

So the first few Gameboy Advance titles went up yesterday. I had a quick look at my GA options (Advance Wars, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, and Metroid Fusion) and went for Metroid as my GA purchase for €6.99 and bought the SNES version of Mario Kart for €7.99.*

I've never played a Metroid game and only briefly played the Gamecube version of Kart.

So my initial 5 min assesment, Kart was a bit "meh". I don't think it compares well to my other SNES purchases on Wii U so far. On the other hand, I was impressed by my initial run at Metroid. It just seems to be really fast and fluid.

*Meanwhile over in Japan, some execs were high-fiving. "See, told you the price point was right!".

I got Advance Wars cause I never played it and M&L Superstar Saga, have no idea when I will get around to playing them though.

I would get Metroid Fusion, but, I have it on the 3DS, but would like the option of save states but for €7 for save states, hmm, nah.

Whats everyone think of the GBA on the Wii U? How do they look on the Gamepad? Is there an option to have the actual GBA blue background? Like having the Gameboy/Color or Game Gear background on the 3DS VC games?

Anyone else think they're overdoing it with Smash Bros? New pics weekly, new footage evry Direct and now a Smash Direct (probably) months before it comes out while Mario Kart is out next month. I think this only highlights how little they have coming?

Maybe that's just my opinion since I'm not a Smash player

cant wait for both of them tbh. Youre probably right though, would be nice to see what else they have up their sleeve.

They've been doing that for the last few Smash Bros games though.

It seems the GBA emulation on the WiiU is handled by M2 which should mean the emulation is nigh on perfect. Good to see Nintendo using these guys after the stellar work these guys did on Sega's re-releases for the PS2, Wii and 3DS.

So rumour has it that Smash Bros. has been delayed into next year. If true, they might as well cremate the Wii U. Can things be any worse? There's a Nintendo Direct at 11 tonight if anybody is interested.

Where might one go to watch that? Aren't they on the Wiiu eshop or something?

This is the best place to go. You can also go to the Nintendo website.

Releases this summer on 3DS, in winter on Wii U. Bet it's the only major Wii U game this Christmas.

A game mode exclusive to the 3DS. They really aren't doing the Wii U any favours.
