My phone started playing the Kellys Heroes theme tune when I was trying to move the ewe and lambs this morning, has a life if it's own in my pocket, must get a new case/cover for it.

In fairness is it not a form of peer pressure, maybe even subtle bullying if they don't want to do it? Don't agree with these nomination type things, if people want to do something then away with them, if not, leave them be.

There was a poster of the chillis back in the day that several lady friends of mine had and that's all the boys were wearing.

Fun night out, went out looking for foxes, found another set of twin ewe lambs. Slapped on a bit of Stockholm tar with the notion I'd move them in the morning. Did a round of the farm then set up on a hill, spotted my bould ewe heading off up the land, with ONE lamb in tow. No you fupping don't.

Great craic trying to coax a ewe down the land by torch light. Got my foot caught in a fence crossing it, ewe knocked me and landed on the rifle. Much inventive cussin' , effing and two fences later later I get them set up in shed for the night. Pencil, paper, drawing pins, 100 yards, big bang, discover rifle sights are out cos of the fall, retire home........

But I'm still at 200% lambing, all ewe lambs :D I figure I'm ahead!

Just back from a night of hunting too, 3 foxes tonight. Even seen a deer which is rare for South Leitrim. How will you fix the sights? I hope you had the safety on when you fell on it:D:D

Ara I'll re-zero it tomorrow, have a target board set up, will just print out a few inch sized dots on a piece of A4 and make some noise. Will have to check if anything is loose, or in the immortal words of Morgan Freeman in Unforgiven, "bent".

Been out a few nights and mornings now and not seen one fox ever. I haven't made up my mind whether that's a good or bad thing yet.

No deer in my area, no forestry for them here, nearest probably about 20-25 minutes away.

I'd be surprised if they dont come touring around you soon enough . They have been spotted close enough to my place a couple of times already

Yeah that's my thinking too to be honest, it's a matter of time. I fondly remember a period of a few years where I had 0 lamb losses, have always strived to attain that run of events again, not easy!

Back in proper internet land :D
Catching up and having a good read through all the posts.
Greengrass - I did not know about the "selfie" for breast cancer but it is a good idea, as is the "cock in the sock".
OH and I have been run off our feet in the last 10 days since I was properly last in internet land.
I have lots of milage done driving the lorry mostly on feckin twisty narrow back roads :( Hopefully with this experience I will pass the driving test when the time comes.
Going fly fishing later on today (Saturday) with my youngest son who is home from college this weekend. Fingers crossed we might bag a few trout, although I seldom eat fish. I enjoy catching them and give them to my mam, family or friends.
I have to head back to OH's late afternoon as we have a run on, collecting dairy heifers.

Oops, no, the deer won't come this way as there's not enough cover for them. As far as I remember there's a bit of forestry/small woods your way.

Whats the smallest calibre you are legally allowed to use ? 2250 ?

    243 I think, Moy.

You could get them with 22-250, you may still be able to license one for deer I am not sure. Think myself .243 is enough for any deer in this country in capable hands.

That's once you get them behind the shoulder, with the price of them slugs you wouldn't want to miss too many times

I felt it and I was sitting in the sauna ! The swimming is a nice way of spending a couple of hours with the kids . It tires them out well too
