Honestly, according to this forum every car on donedeal is hugely over priced. It makes you wonder how any of them sell.

Well that's not quite true. Any post that's thanked on this thread is the price people expect them to be or less!

That Renault, though it's low milage and clean looking it is unfortunately only worth about 1500 on a very good day. People will just not pay more for fear of reliability issues.

2 grand for a 14 year old Megane that wasn't exactly renowned for it's reliability even when new is overpriced.

    Mk3 Gti's should be avoided

    too heavy and slow

The 8v your thinking off? A paddy spec 8v I'd completely agree. The 16v has near 150hp and weighs under 1100kg. I would consider that either heavy or slow. That one is also a really nice car IMO, well speced and appears well looked after too.

    nct may 15
    35k Miles (!)

    looks brand new
That's only worth around a grand id say. They were a poorly built car and weren't all that nice to drive either.

    No original wheeltrims.

You'd want to pay me to take that away

Zebra, you reported me with a nonsense claim before so I'd prefer not to engage with you to be honest.

34 and a half on a 14 year old Motor? Sounds suspiciously low to me.

    What do you reckon Kaiser?

You're hardly holding a grudge over being reported once :P

With a claimed service history I would highly doubt it's clocked. If it had no history then it would be a possibility that it was but with the history it should be verifiable with a call to whoever serviced it :)

    I reckon its not.

I had an 89 Suzuki Alto with 12k.

I know of a 99 Suzuki Jimny with (coincidentally) 35k miles, which is genuine.

I'd believe that mileage on the Megane is genuine.

    Good point. Didn't notice that!

I guess some cars do very little moving in their lives :)

Well would you want to do much driving in an auto Megane!?

    :P

It does now. I can assure you that it said 1 owner when I posted the car. Maybe very recently changed hands? I'd be wary and would walk away if the owner told me lies about this if prompted.

It's nothing rare. I come across so many cars that state 'one owner' where it is blatantly obvious they are not. Tell tale signs are usually the car not wearing wearing original dealer plates or branding.

You cant win in this country. If your car has low miles it's clocked and if it has high miles it's on it's last legs.

And if it has average. it's only "average".

2k is not bangernomics. Bangernomics is when you can buy it with the money you are allowed withdraw in a single ATM transaction...

2k can well be bangernomics with the right car.

2k is flashin the cash. 750 is upper Banger-la-dosh, which is close to Cash-mire.

That might be your idea of bangernomics but the criteria of this thread says differently. :)

Please go back and read the rules!

    Bangernomics is:

    - A car that is €2000 and under that represents good value for money

    - Has a valid NCT for more than 3 months

    - Tax is a bonus but not a requirement

    - Something that you would drive yourself

Re: 407, lots of car for ~2k, if it checks out. Most important is the 2.0 hdi part. I'd hope that there was some history with it. Great value imo.
