Always a fan of the three spoke (you can't really call them spokes but sure...) alloys on Saabs. Reminds me of 900s of old. Very Saab and because of that, very cool.

Put all the carpets back in the focus and cleaned the inside of it today. Have the leak fully sealed so no more damp smell or wet carpet hopefully.

The aul 535 is starting to go funny on me again electrically. Need to get to the bottom of it!

Also discovered earlier how one distinguishes the V8 E39's from the 6 cylinder ones from the grilles! :D

Why advertise a car if you won't answer your fooking phone :mad::mad:

Well the person I was trying to contact was selling an E36 318i for €400. It had no tax or NCT and according to the ad needed 4 tyres.

So instead, I called a different guy selling a 99 (pre-facelift) Primera daysul. It has had 2 previous owners, NCT until April, tax until the end of march, 4 good tyres (well a Bridgestone, 2 firestones and one chinese job) and 366,000 miles :D

We're going to play a game called guess the price :D DGT isn't allowed play though ;)

I've been looking for a hot & cold water extractor and found this on amazon. The reviews sound pretty good and specs of the machine itself, a Bissell 3624 Professional Spot Cleaner.

In a toss up between a 1.6 first gen Focus and a Corolla 1.4, what do you pick?

Both are similarly sized, exact same power and are as near as makes no difference, the same to insure.

    What year corolla?

Depends what you want, the Focus will be nicer to drive but the Corolla from experience will be cheaper over all to run.

I would go Corolla but most here I think would pick the Focus. Personally I would get a Primera :p.

Most importantly what do you like more ;)

If it was a 2001 shape Corolla saloon or 3dr hatch I'd take it over the Focus too.

    00ish for both.

I dunno. I like the way the Focus drives. I like it's looks (hatchback only) but I don't like the way they rust. They're a wee bit cheaper than a corolla too.

I like the corollas revvy little 1.4 and the liftback version too. I like bulletproof reliability (yes, yes, I know of the oil burning issue. Most of them I've looked at are okay)

Other option. A 1.5 323. Down on power slightly compared to the corolla. Or a N15 Almera. I'd rather not get one again but they're a grand little car.

Either way, it will be a waiting game for right one at the right price.

It would between the 323 and the Corolla for me. I'm not a Ford fan.

I love my 02 1.4 corolla. I prefer driving it to my fathers 14 fiesta.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,296 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

Later 323s are 1.6 - they're a bit nippier than the 1.5 and are usually very well specced.
The one I have has aircon and sunroof, side bags, traction control etc.

They tend to like their oil though and parts are pricey new and hard to find used.

Its really swings and roundabouts at that price. I'll be glued to DD for the next few weeks. I'll snap a good one up hopefully
