Looking for a new desktop as the old one has just stopped working. It’s a family pc and will not be used for gaming really. I would like it to last a good few years and be able to handle videos and tasks with ease. Budget is ~500. I wouldn’t be against building but I haven’t done it before however I could probably do it with the right direction. Would it be better to build or just buy prebuilt?

On second thoughts prebuilt might just be easier. Are the desktops in argos or pcworld any good? There doesn't seem to be much of a selection.

Have a look at this site, much cheaper than the high street shops.

Would you consider a Mac Mini? they are a great piece of kit, without having a tower taking up space,,, nice solid OS with mavericks,, would also work great as a home server

Ok still searching but found the dell inspiron 3000. It has a 4th gen core i5, 8 gigs ram and a geforce gt 625m graphics card. I think it's probably a lot higher spec than what i need but what do you guys think? Is it worth it for €599?
Edit: ok also just saw the inspiron 3000 with 4th gen i3 and integrated graphics. Afaik everything else is the same and it cost €489.

Have also just looked at shipping and it says estimated shipping for the i3 takes 3 days but for the i5 takes one month! Surely that's not right?
