They've meant to do well on a long trip though, aren't they?
With a long 6th gear on them I'm sure they could rival the "performance" diesel.

It will never rival it for the economy, but it's aimed at a different market. When you have to throw an extra 50 quid a week in the tank it mounts up pretty fast.

Either way when they stick the badge on the diesel version it only cheapens it. VW have the right idea calling it the GTD, makes it obvious what it is.

I'd rather the Ecoboost to be fair.

Speaking of which, there doesn't seem to e any Ecoboost Fiestas for Hire in Zante.
    Very annoyed about that.

Anyone know what the 1.2 TSI Polo is like? Worth an extra €30-€40 for the week over a Panda?

I hired out a polo TSI in the gran canaria year, was unreal at climbing steep hills and generally very pleasant.
Used a company called goldcar who seem to use loads of TSI polos.
Incidentally I paid for a ka/panda and got upgraded.

What should I do with my new clamp?

Is leaving it where you found it the sensible option?

    Probably.

    Handling stolen goods, etc

Was thinking that, didn't want to leave it over night in case it got nicked, which would more than likely happen. I'll drop it back in the morning.

Decided what to do with the legend gearbox yet?

Well, I'll certainly be replacing it to get it back on the road. Going to the UK will be my last resort, shortly followed by buying a full car just for the box. Unless its a JDM one.

I would imagine they will probably put the D at the start. :D

They better put a D on there anyway, as Muppet has said, if they just use the ST badges, it seriously devalues the brand. Ugh... diesel ST's, it's like a bad dream coming true.

Exactly, bad enough they're going down in cylinders which made them unique, putting a diesel in it further ruins the brand they've built up. SD or something similar should be what it's called.

I made the mistake of having the window down when I started the diesel this morning.

    :(

Woke up this morning to find paint damage around and on my freshly painted drivers side side badge :(

Fecking dog must have jumped up smelling it or something or chasing a cat off the bonnet that likes to sleep there since I removed bonnet liner.

    Bah humbug :(

At least I can get it touched up when bumpers and bonnet are being resprayed.

Sure god only knows what kind of wild beasts have been laid out on his bonnet :p

    Sound.

If I've found one thing its the little things on these types of cars that generally mess up your plans for the big things.

    Worthwhile though

I had this with our older cat when I had the MPS. The fecken clown hopped up on the bonnet and roof going after a poor aul' bird. Scratched the bonnet and marked the roof (thankfully had a sunroof) but the bird escaped unhurt :)

Apparently there is stuff you can get that makes them not want to be near the car.

Like a 7 stone Boxador but in a bottle and with less paint damage :p
