Starting to get pissed off at this datsun now
Someone has fitted a dodgy aftermarket immobilizer (why I don't know :P) resulting in the car not starting at all this morning even with a brand new battery.

I need to find a way to disable the immobilizer.

What type of alarm is in it?

It is a crappy aftermarket alarm and an immobilizer.
I'll look when I get home. Had to take the feckin carina to work.

    Where in Cork is that?
Failing the purchase of it, I have a friend selling a '05 320ci Msport.
Black and clean with around 60k on the clock.

So my new tailpipes arrived for the carina....:D
This lightens my mood after the crappy datsun immobilizer fiasco (which is ongoing)

Not fully up on some of the banter here, but is that a real old datsun. Or a joking reference to a nissan?

If it's a datsun, guessing no ecu so it might be pain but there cant be that much going on with the immobiliser, should be fixable or removeable handy enough. (id fix/replace it, scumbags love a car with no immobiliser...)

No, it is an actual datsun that I bought at the weekend
It has been modded a bit by the previous owner - i kindof half knew him through a friend of a friend- and amongst other things he has added a crappy aftermarket alarm and immobilizer.

I will be getting a new (working) immobilizer and alarm fitted of course, but before then I don't like the idea of being stranded somewhere because "computer says no" :P, like if I get it fixed and brought to midway for instance!

So the coolest thing just happened.
I live near a hotel that regularly puts up bus loads of Japanese tourists. Not sure where they were walking to but a big group of them just walked by my house, one of them spots my car and next thing there's about 15-20 cameras snapping pics of the little blue Eunos that's traveled so far from home.
I knocked at the window and gave them a wave and a thumbs up, they waved and looked delighted with what they found. Haha

Did they ask you to drive it :D

Too busy taking pictures, you know the stereotype. :p
Wish I went out to them, could have gotten pictures of them all with it. Hahaha

206 serviced today. Running fine now. Was idling too low and that sorted out the really bad shaking after a long drive or when reversing. Fixed the water leak in the boot too, the seal around the tail light was the culprit, i think. Pollen filter was changed only 4k miles ago, at the last service, so it should be ok for a while yet. Next up, the NCT!
