whoops last night was one of nights baby decided Mammy and daddy don't need any sleep and given how up to my eyeballs I am, my natural tendency to be the worst natural speaking English speaker comes out.

McGrath, Moore, Furlong, Jordi, Conan, Toner & Dave Kearney.

What a great season so far for emerging (and not so emerging) talent. 4 new internationals from young player (McG, Moore, DK and assuming Jordi gets run off bench this weekend), Furlong and Conan look like adding serious, serious depth to the Leinster squad and making the future look even brighter, and Toner cements a place in the Irish team - didn't see that one coming! - but he's been immense.

Add to that performances of Macken, Reid, Hudson and Cooney whilst stepping up for the senior team and it's been a pretty awesome season from a player development at Leinster point of view.

Also 14 players in the Irish 23 who are in excellent form in the 6 nations.

Running away in the league (along with Munster)

    Times are good.

Yeah, I think if we can take one thing from this year, is that our fringe players are more than capable of playing at the highest level, and impressively too.

Players like Murphy and Conan still need the Heaslip's and SOBs to pass down the knowledge of the little things, and also shelter their experience a bit.

Rome wasn't built in a day, and they now both have two years to learn from the masters :)

You could add Ruddock to that list, he has seriously stepped up this year.

Good post Jackass but I think you might be putting a slightly positive spin on the above. Hudson aside, I just don't see Macken or Reid making it at top level rugby unless there's a massive change in their defensive abilities. Macken far too found of holding onto the ball himself from what I've seen too

I think Reid has actually quietly impressed. Don't think he'll ever tear up lumps at 12 but who knows, in a year he could.

Is Goodman's season a write off? This is the time of year when his presence would have been valuable.

Yep, had more surgery around Christmas time.

Pity as he would've proved a good asset this time of year and probably would've made a name for himself, a handy player.

Can't see us spending money on him again, could be crocked, and he's old enough.

Yeah he would have been huge for us this season I think. But he won't be back this season. Which probably means he won't be back at all. His contract is up and I doubt it'll be extended, although I wouldn't have any issues if it was (assuming he'll be available at the start of next season).

Shame, he seemed decent. With Griffin gone and Parks probably retiring he wouldn't be a bad signing for Connacht if he can prove his fitness.

If he can prove his fitness he wouldn't be the worst signing for us along with a proven top quality 13

If he can prove his fitness he won't be going anywhere

It would have been a huge risk to let Heaslip leave but I think the funds could have been put to good use. Conan was immense last night and looked every bit as good as Jordi, with those two and Rudduck/SOB also covering N.o 8 we would have been fine. I think in two years time Heaslip will definitely leave and we will have to fight even harder to hold onto SOB

Don't come here with this "I know something you don't know" stuff.

If you want to say something then spill it. If you don't want to tell anyone then there's no need to tell anyone that you know something in the first place.

I never said I wanted to say it? I'm just sayin' what I'm sayin'.

I'm going to be back here when the deal is announced. Never said it was massive news either. Just cool that I know about a deal that no one else knows about.

Funny enough, the rest of us posters here don't need or WANT to know that you know something that we don't know.

You'll prob just come back next time Leinster announce a signing and claim you knew all about it

To the question of SOB over Sexton, it has to be Sexton over SOB every time. I really don't think people understand just how central Sexton is to how his team performs. If Sexton was still at Leinster then I'd be tipping them to win another Heineken Cup this year. For the entire season he has been the only good thing about Racing Metro and is a massive reason they are not in a much worse position. Sexton is the most important player for Ireland by far. Losing BOD, POC, Heaslip, SOB, Kearney, Healy doesn't even come close to the fall out that would come from losing Sexton.

That's mainly due to the fact that all we have is Jackson as back-up.If Jackson had to come in at the 11th hour today we would have no chance.

It's Ethel the tea lady from Ulster. She's been overlooked for selection for a while now and is moving on. Securing her Ulster fry is key to getting Jared Payne.

Is it the ground-breaking news of Brian O'Driscoll's departure?

That's exactly it. Would expect your reaction I suppose because you don't know the news!! It's not big news anyways, never claimed it was.

It's about Darren Hudson leaving. Why would he stay? Another very good young winger gone. I've been thinking there's no way he'll stay after this patch of the season and the non-existent game time he see's, despite playing well for over a year with A's and seniors.

If it is him, I reckon he'll do extremely well in the premiership or wherever he ends up.

What would you expect our reaction to be?

It may be no harm for Hudson to move really as he's not going to get ahead of Kearney, McFadden, or Fitzgerald and it appears he'd behind Fanning.

It's game time he needs now and he won't be getting it at Leinster even though this season is when he's gotten the most!

Praise Schmidt for Dave Kearney, we've got ourselves a player now, will be a great H Cup option

Bad news for Kirchner who is playing his way into the #24 jersey.
