Johnson's been awful for around a year now, flanno isn't a world beater but he's been doing a better job then Johnson since hes came in imo.

Thought Johnson started very well this season but around the end of November, his form started to Dip and then nosedived over Christmas. Having a fully fit Johnson back is always a plus imo.

I agree with this. Poor lately but I still rate him as a player overall and happy for him to be fit and playing again.

Papin wasn't even in the same galaxy as the other two.

To say he wasn't in the same galaxy is defo wrong. He was top european cup goal scorer for 3 years straight, not many have done that.

    He has a 1 in 2 record.

I can see the reason why people say the other two are better and tbh they are probably right. I am just saying for me, Papin was the one I enjoyed watching the most so he was the better player imo.

    Anyway back on topic,

We are gonna win the league lads aren't we?

    This is on its way.

Coutinho , what a player, the most through balls in this PL season, I love a through ball me, Platini and Brady were pretty decent at them.

Danny Murphy! Him and Stevie had so much fun pushing balls through for Owen to run onto...

Sign everyone and we'll worry about formations later.

Suarez loves everything and is staying forever.

“We are very strong at home and we must keep going like this. As the manager said we are a chihuahua! We must just focus on every game. In football you never know what can happen.

“To be in the Champions League is what we all want. This is our objective – to play in it next season.

“We know we have a small squad. When our best 11 players start we have shown we can do well against any team. But if we have one or two injuries it can become difficult for the manager.

hmmm a bit dismissive of our back-up options there - of course the majority of us agree with him, not sure if it's wise to state it publically, then again he's probably as pissed off as anybody with lack of reinforcements in January - never mind the fear of missing out on CL, could a lack of investment ultimately cost is a title?

So when Chelsea were playing United..you wanted Rafa chelsea to lose?

    Really.??

I certainly did. As much as I hate united, there's a decency abut the club that's entirely lacking in Chelsea and their national front fan base

Don't think he's being dismissive when he talks about the small squad tbh.

Platini single handely won France a European Championship, they'd never won anything before, unlike Argentina.

I posted a video of Platini in 84 a few years ago, football porn!

Platini was great in that ec however he had a dam good team around him. the best of which were:
Joel bats was dam good in goal
in defense Maxime Bossis Patrick Battiston were up there with the best at the time
in midfield Jean Tigana, Alain Giresse Luis Fernández who all could play. Fernández was defensive while tigana and giresse were great footballers.
They were lightish up front with D Six and Rocheteau decent footballers and heros in france(if memory serves me right) but platini actually mainly played up front for the tournament.

That team actually came close in WC 1982 and again in 1986.
If you remember it was Battiston that was clobbered by Schumacher in 1982

    Anyway back to Liverpool:

Platini would have made a decent right back for us.

Liverpool U21s on the box tonight - its away to Stoke so watching from behind the settee is recommended. 7pm KO

Just to show how desperately bad the U21 League structure is, Liverpool have played just 11 games so far, just one game in the last 2 months.

    The Mirror
Can we win the title?" the Uruguayan told the Liverpool Echo in an exclusive interview. "I'm not sure. I think this season the Premier League is so difficult. Every team can lose games. Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal have been dropping points.

"To be in the Champions League is what we all want. This is our objective, to play in it next season.
"I watched the games on TV this week and when you hear that Champions League music that's motivation in itself.

"I want to be there with Liverpool. It's an unbelievable competition. It's where we want to be, playing against the top teams in Europe.

"Stevie has told me about Champions League nights at Anfield. He said when you have played Champions League football at Anfield you will never forget it. I want to try it for myself.
"When I arrived here I said it was my dream to play for Liverpool and play Champions League here. I know I can achieve my dreams here"

The more he says things like that, the more I think he will leave :(

He can start by banging in a few more goals :-)

Its the same as it ever was.

    CL: he stays.

    NO CL: he goes.

actually us keeping Suarez would eclipse whatever financial gain we get for CL qualification for me.

    Mirror again
Luis Suarez claims Kenny Dalglish will always be No 1 at Liverpool.

Suarez shies away from such talk and he says he will always be behind Dalglish and skipper Steven Gerrard.

"No, no, I'm not at that level," he told the Liverpool Echo in an exclusive interview.

"Kenny is No 1. When he was a player he was just unbelievable. I've watched the videos of him.

"Stevie for me is the best player we have here. He has achieved so much.

He's our captain and a great leader. In the dressing room he never thinks he's better than anyone else. For me he's been one of the best player in the world for a lot of years.

    Suarez in the Echo

If Twitter is to be believed we are back scouting Dede again.

Dede and Sakho .... now that would be a sight to behold.

You are right there, even with a few Youth Cup games, the activity is very low. Hence loans for McLaughlin, Ngoo and Roddan. And Ibe, Smith, Teix and others making the bench for first team games.

Given the game the other night, I don't expect many of them to start again.

I would have thought Ilori is being groomed to be a future CB partner to Sahko - both young CBs that would compliment each other well I think - Sahko with power, Ilori with pace, both very capable with the ball at their feet. How far away from potentially seeing that partnership do people think we are?

I agree with this, after spending that much on Ilori you'd have to think he's been purchased with a view to him becoming a first team player.
I aint seen enough of him to commit to be able to say whether he'll be great or rubbish, but he does look decent from what i have seen.

Ibe gone on loan to Brum, bit strange that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,872 ✭✭✭Dickerty

Ibe gone on loan to Brum, bit strange that

How so? We have only leaguie games left, so v unlikely he'll get games ahead of Sterling, Aspas, Alberto or Moses. He needs regular games if he is to be a squad player for next season. Or if he still needs work, maybe a full season loan next year as well? He's only a kid...

Much better than him sitting at home watching our games.

As I posted last night Brum is less than an obvious destination, if you look at their stats they are officially* the most stolid boring team in the world.
