Rodgers can take some of the blame for that by playing Sterling, Sturridge and Suarez in what were essentially fixed positions they are all quality attackers and should have the freedom to move as they see fit, and by not starting with Hendo who offers much more energy than Allen can.

Monreal's assault on Allen had the same effect as Eto's on Henderson.

Not sure we deserved a win, but I will say this about Webb. I've never seen a more arrogant, self assured referee, who makes that amount of bad decisions on a whim. It's not just Liverpool fans who think so, the guy decided two penos would be too much in that space of time, so he didn't give such a ridiculously obvious peno. His game, his script, his way.

Given our run of results, we were bound to get unlucky, I am glad it has come in the cup instead of the league. Still, thought we battered Arsenal and were unlucky not to win the game.

One of those games. We probably missed more chances today than we did in our last 6 games combined. Sturridge had 3 good chances alone. Amazing he didn't score at least one in the form he's in. Thought Allen was our worst player by a distance. Needless to say I would be very happy to see Howard Webb never referee a Liverpool game again.

3 points next weekend against Swansea next on the agenda.

Thought we would have been ok today if Sturridge was with it. Three good chances came his way. Hopefully he will be back to scoring in the league.
Skrtyl is a liability at CB for me. Twice in a week he has been caught out by high ball crosses, cost a goal against Fulham and almost another today. Get Sakho fit and he can play with Agger
Joe Allen doesnt really do much in midfield
Thought Sterling was good again today

Suarez needs to play down the middle now for a few games.

Shocking in front of goal today.

The only consolation is that it's a rival for top 4 that beat us. I hope they go the whole way to the final v City and with any luck go far in the CL too.

Headline Howard at it again. No coincidence that he and Clattenburg are off to the WC - probably the least competent of all the refs in the PL. I have unfathomable levels of harted for Webb.

As long as Sturridge has his shooting boots on next weekend I'm not bothered. Battered them for alot of that.

Probably his worst Liverpool performance where he hasn't just been anonymous...some shocking misses today.

Played very well, but fell short. Cant complain about the performances. If Henderson started he would have given us more energy but other than that the starting line up picks itself.

Defence costing us more and more with simple mistakes and doesn't seem to be getting better which is a worry. We were desperately unlucky all in all. Anyway, many more battles to come this season, if we continue to play like that and tighten up the defence we'll have top 4.

    We're back.

    We've a cracking manager.

We're still in contention for some big prizes.

We've a good few quid to spend in the summer.

    The futures bright.

I wouldn't switch this 2-1 loss in the cup for 5-1 win in the league. Fair play to them today, though.

    No need for over analysis.

Ref did us no favours and Arsenal are hard to beat.

Still enjoy watching us play and good to see we're competitive and feared a bit again.
Need to sort out our defence though.

Still happier that we beat them last week.

Would be nice to be still in the cup,but now we at least know all our fixtures.

Look lads, before we played Arsenal last weekend we all would have taken the league win (I assume) and the loss in the cup, we were unlucky today but we played well. Onwards and Up :)

I wonder what the odds on you appearing today would have been :D

Hey pool fans. Unlucky today, well done on last week.

Really glad that we're finished playing you for the year.

Extra glad that Chelsea and City aren't.

I know from experience that in your position, you're not too bothered about a cup exit. Now just go and cement that top 4 place!

If we secure 4th then I'm sure there'll be money in the summer.

Decent performance, but rueing some great chances missed. I'm pretty fed up with Agger at this stage too; he's all surface and no substance.

It's as obvious as BNMC appearing during a match thread where we are losing at this stage.

Cracking game of football which could have went either way. I'm not sure why Suarez didn't get moved to the centre before we went with two. Daniel was having an off day and Suarez was struggling to get involved in the first half. With us chasing the game meaning Arsenal sitting a little deeper, I thought it would have made perfect sense. Can't really fault too many of the players apart from the the finishing and Allen was a ghost for most of the game.

Meh, bright side is more games for Arsenal and tunnel focus from us for the rest of the season on the main prize.
    CHAMPIONS

That was exactly my thoughts too, he didn't judge the offence on its own merits having seen it right in front of him, he bottled it coz of the previous pen.

The team and its attacking intent made very proud today. Sterling is growing in influence in every game. Allen / Agger were good considering they are just back in and lack match sharpness. Gerrard & Coutinho were fantastic again, such precision in their passing is a joy to watch. Studge & Suarez had a bunch of chances but it just wasn't our day. Its still our year though :)

Leaving aside the clown that was reffing I don't think we can complain too much about today. The team played well for the most part but left their shooting boots at home. The effort was there but not the execution. Missed far too many chances. Onwards and upwards.

    Okey dokey:

Feb 23 Liverpool v Swansea City
    Mar 1 Southampton v Liverpool
    Mar 10 Liverpool v Sunderland
Mar 16 Manchester United v Liverpool
Mar 22 Cardiff City v Liverpool
Mar 30 Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur
Apr 5 West Ham United v Liverpool
Apr 12 Liverpool v Manchester City
Apr 19 Norwich City v Liverpool
    Apr 26 Liverpool v Chelsea
May 3 Crystal Palace v Liverpool
May 11 Liverpool v Newcastle United

    No midweek games
    No competitive conflicts
No more than one game per week

We may never get a better run at this thing, that's all I'm saying.
