I like most sports that are played at an elite level. I did not grow up in a Rugby environment but I still like watching the All Blacks even though I struggle with the rules.

I did not enjoy the Ireland vs Wales game on Saturday, Ireland did a number on Wales and stopped them playing. All the rugby pundits thought this was great\smart and they were smug about this. Replace Ireland's name with England's and then you would have heard cynical\boring and about how England are ruining the game.

Double Standards from the Rugby people is what I hate, at least there was plenty of Irish soccer pundits that were not afraid to call Ireland boring even when they qualified for Euro 2012.

"The great fallacy is that the game is first and last about winning. It is nothing of the kind. The game is about glory, it is about doing things in style and with a flourish, about going out and beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom." Danny Blanchflower

You may say a lot more of that under the new coaching staff. Very technical ticket. You see boring, I see a thing of beauty. Locks getting turned and all that.

    I don't care much for football but I wouldn't knock it.....much

But the big/best players will go to the fee paying schools.

Its that simple. People can brush it up all they like. People aint blind.

    Not in Munster

    If you say so.

Not to blow your mind too much but there's this other thing called the ashes that a few cricketers get excited about . The odd golfer goes to see some competition called the ryder cup too.

Sorry, but this displays breathtaking ignorance. That you have a Joe Schmidt coached team and 'ruining the game' in the same sentence actually made me cry a little bit inside

It's a sport associated with middle class people, although from what I can gather, that association isn't entirely accurate. It does get quite a lot of coverage, but you could say it's justified given its popularity as a spectator sport. I've never been to a game but from what I hear the atmosphere is much more friendly than the average football one. There is the old saying about rugby being a thug's game played by gentlemen and football being a gentleman's game played by thugs. I think rugby should be introduced to a lot more young people of all backgrounds, as it can (in theory) be played by lots of different people with different physiques and skills. With football you're either good or rubbish but rugby has lots of different roles.

You clearly have no idea of the history behind. Rugby is full of tradition.

I've no doubt many other disciplines have such tradition, with a trophy being presented at the end of a competition between two teams. Why, them lads with the cox have one. Cambridge and Oxford. Bet there is way more.

Tradition. Ah yes a fine word. So much tradition in letting Italy into Five Nations.

    Money talks.

Who really gives a rat arse about Cambridge and Oxford bar people from either town/university. I know plenty of English people who could not care less even though some watch it.

How about we all just let people like what they like?

I fcuking love rugby. Been raised watching it and football, never liked football. Been a big rugby fan since I was about 10 years old (24 now).

I love it so much that I have a season ticket for Leinster, and am going to France to see the Leinster/Toulon match in April.

The atmosphere at rugby matches is great, way better (imo) than the atmosphere at GAA matches.

And I don't fancy a single player. I just love the game :)

and it really is to any outsider.

I know Welsh lads who could not care less.

Championship all the way for those lads. Maybe thats why Wales have been far superior then us over the years of competition in 5/6 nations and WC.

Italy were invited in to make a new tradition and expand the game. Expansion is good for all.

I don't know who cares about rowing, probably people who row. I don't know anyone who watches it or I might but we have never discussed it.

The plenty of people you know clearly care enough about it as they have discussed their viewing it with you. have many conversations about a race no one gives a rats arse about? Clearly more than me anyhow.

Well over 17m people cared enough in 2011 to make an effort to watch it.
It's consistently one of the most watched events on UK TV.

Well I happened to be in England couple of times I was on as a kid. Used to be on the BBC.

I didnt see anybody on the streets celebrating after the race was over. Then again I was in Manchester those few times

Can't wait til Cheltenham. Win one race and you're the greatest horse that's ever lived.

Mind you, spending the rest of your life in stud is a pretty cool reward.

    Went to it in 2005.

Some gambling going on between the races and the Poker at night time. Saw houses on the line on the turn of a card.

Scary but interesting at same time.

To have have qualified to enter that race the horses must be very talented. That's why Cheltenham is special you get the best of the best running Nd riding against each other!

Back on topic, Im catholic middle income, public schooled and play rugby - bloody well love stepping out on the pitch every weekend!!

Sure why would you not want to watch people tackling!! The physicality of rugby appeals to a lot of viewers.

The rugby atmosphere is manufactured. Music after tries and conversions. Free flags left on seats etc. Brutal stuff.
