No idea what you lot are on about, there are only four Sonic characters (Sonic, Tails, Knuckles & Robotnik)...

I've edited my post here, full of silly questions, sorry about that :)

Hmm, I'm kinda running out of space/unsightly wires everywhere with just my Wii U and Gamepad, 3DS, PS3 super slim, PSPGo and Vita (on their way in the post :D) and my new Sony 32" Smart () TV. I like this stand you have here, looks neat.

Also, I've just spent the last 3 weeks reading through this whole thread, so many amazing buys on here, loving the artwork on game boxes, but it must cost a fortune to get all these imports etc. What do you guys budget yourself each week or month for gaming stuff?

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 53,294 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

Hmm, there's a surprisingly small amount of enemies in Sonic 1.

It's very frustrating alright. There's no reason for them to be that expensive. I can't imagine the demand is in any way high.

Was looking at ebay.com last night and there were some good deals - however, that new ebay thing with the added import tax completely cancels out any bargains

Yep that import tax is a balls all right.

I had gotten Metroid, Zelda, and AvP down to under €100 all in mint condition and complete but the import tax malarkey and the postage made it redundant.
Annoyed me so much, I deleted all my US SNES saved searches in protest.
    That will show them

My missus couldn't care less what I spend my money on, it's the sheer volume she has a problem with. I don't blame her to be honest, I've far too many collections and have a hard time saying bye to any of it.

If I was single I'd probably be walled into an apartment somewhere with games, surviving on tins on canned food so I can buy more Neo geo AES carts. So she's probably saved me in that regard :pac:

Cant afford to update my PC to run a HD rift as well, will need a juicy GPU I'd say. No more upgrades for me for a while. Also the HD looks like its still duck taped together and needs an extra camera.

Contra shattered soldier is one of the toughest games ever made. Up there with Hard Corp. To unlock the final levels you have to beat each stage without losing a life and kill the bosses in such a way that they complete all their attack patterns.

Neo Contra is a cake walk in comparison and totally bonkers.

More annoying questions for you, if you dont mind.

I'm looking at Sega, Mega Drive, Saturn and Dreamcast. How easy is it to get these systems in full working order now?

I was just in Games Exchange there and he didnt have any Mega Drives in stock but a few games I could start off with that I would know of.

Any advice? What do R.A.G.E. charge now-a-days for systems? Haven't been in there in a long while, and not on facebook anymore to keep up to date.

Sega were pretty good with build quality, should be very easy to get those systems in perfect working order. You'll probably need to replace the battery in the saturn to get save games (extremely easy to do, remove a flap at the back and pop a new one in). the only other issue is with the Dreamcast. Make sure you get an older model so that it can play back ups and a lot of dreamcasts suffer from the random reset problem but it's an easy fix as well.

RAGE charge silly money but I find their console prices are decent enough. Not sure if they've gotten silly recently.

Thanks for that! So with Saturn's its making sure the battery is working. With Dreamcast, which model should I look for, code?

I remember Rage doing deals on MD NES SNES ect, with system, two controllers and a game for like €40 or €50. Wonder if they still do that.

It doesn't matter if the Saturn battery is dead, the replacement is just a CR2032. Just pop a new one in the back and away you go.

The saturn will probably need a new battery every 18 months. It's built so it's easy to replace.

Not sure about the dreamcast models to look for but a google will help. IIRC it's only the final model Dreamcast that won't play back ups.
