Put in an order for some more of those nice cardboard Neo Minibox things.

    Have them coming for the following Neo Geo games;

    Pulstar
    Metal Slug 5
    Puzzle Bobble 2
    Mark of the Wolves
    Thrash Rally
    Neo Turf Masters
    Windjammers

    Also saw he now does PGM carts too, so ordered for the following;

    Knights of Valour
    Demon Front
    The Gladiator

Definitely the best (and I reckon nicest) storage solution out there for arcade carts. I see he also has them for Naomi and Atomiswave carts. Asked if he has any future plans for ST-v ones :)

    They're lovely looking boxes alright.

I read that the seller also worked in a box factory for a few years.

What a joy that would have been...

Haha! One of my favourite Simpsons scenes ever.

    'He’s a box! My boy’s a box! Damn you, a box!"

I think he still works in a box factory and uses their equipment for the boxes he sells. So he can probably get anything made up. :)

I stopped watching it because it makes me sick when I see how much better they have it over in the US than here when it comes to hunting for old games :(

But we have the charmers on Adverts to deal with! Retro collecting bliss! €50 for a copy of Bubsy for the Megadrive with a torn label, where do I send the money??

    OK. Deep breath, here goes...

A box of STUFFarrived. In it was this, and a couple of small items arrived separately. I received:

    Gunhed [PC Engine HuCard]
I've had Blazing Lasers for the longest time, new and sealed when I bought it in fact. But it wasn't the same. I wanted Gunhed. It doesn't stick out like a sore thumb in my collection now with the 99.9% of other Japanese titles!

    sZGNEiR.jpg

    Two Famicom Disk System Games
One is Famicom Grand Prix (not Golf - Japan Course, unless it's been overwritten because the disc is blue but has Famicom Grand Prix Stickers on both label sides and it is a blue disk which I think were kiosk disks?), the other is something by Taito ©1987. Didn't actually purchase these, they were very generously added in to the...

    7wBCNNU.jpg

    Famicom Disk System
..that I bought! Fully boxed and signed by it's inventor, ex-Formula 1 commentator, Murray Walker!

Wanted one of these consoles for a long time but the reliability always put me off. This one is a beaut. Looking forward to checking out some disk games and riding the traumatic seas of Famicom Disk reliability!

    Ga-Sen somethingorother Book
This book is titled Ga-Sen (slang, I think, for Game Centre) Somethingorother (in Kanji which I don't understand yet). It's a really good book with lots of photos of arcade cabinets, and, what I think is a top 100 countdown of the best games since the 80's to very recently (stuff like Keyboard Mania etc features in here so the publication date is recent enough). Loads of strategy guides and photos and details for each game, plus a manga strip and so on. Nice stuff!

    E9wRzcz.jpg

    Game 19XX Book

This is a small, A5 format book about gaming across arcade and console systems. It appears to have a number of interviews and lots of specifics on genres and standout games. Nice to flick through and a good title to try and recognise some kanji with (I hope! Every bit of exposure to the language helps for the JLPT exams!).

    z8b2DBC.jpg

    Family Computer 1983-1994 Book

Now this is just plain bloody brilliant. It's a super thick, full colour Famicom book that details, as far as I can see, EVERY Famicom title released, including Disk System etc. Plus there are special features and interviews with top figures in the industry etc.

    kcorzbR.jpg

    iin9N9K.jpg

Want to know why it's so good? It's in English....THROUGHOUT!

    viIY5IC.jpg?1

Yu Suzuki - Game Works Book
Super glad to get this one, mainly for the pack-in disk because it includes Power Drift! I think I recall reading somewhere that the versions of the games on this disc differ slightly to their Saturn releases. Looking forward to trying them out anyway!

    nIw99kH.jpg

    PC Engine GT Handheld Console

Never EVER thought I'd own one of these. Utterly delighted with it, it's in cracking nick and I can't wait to whip it out between my hands in front of everyone on the train to work and start playing with it!

However, it does need a bit of TLC under the hood which is why I bought...

    r3SAat3.jpg

PC Engine GT / Turbo Express Full Capacitor Kit

Yep, these GT handhelds are notorious for sound and video issues related to capacitor problems. So I bought a full replacement kit to get her back in to tip top shape! However I just chucked out my soldering iron as it was rubbish. I needed something extra buttocky and easy enough for a bungling twatoaf like myself to be able to use. So I got this...

    FFdc0sG.jpg

Antex XS25 Soldering Iron and a 1mm tip
A nice new soldering iron. Simple enough for a bungling twatoaf like myself to be able to use!

    Uh9vamf.jpg

    Devestator [Mega CD]
Some Wolfteam blastery goodness to tickle the senses, usually on Thursdays throughout March and April only...and sometimes July.

    g2acBP3.jpg

    Umihara Kawase [PlayStation]
I've actually never played this game on any platform, but I heard the PlayStation version is very good, so I figured it's worth a try! This one is complete with spine, reg and a little popup stand thing with the girl from the game on the front of it. Nice. Hopefully this is as good as everyone says it is...

    Nikon 55mm-200mm Lens
Not game related but figured I'd add it here as I got it today. This is the first brand new lens I've bought since I got my DSLR a couple of years ago. Think I got the most out of the kit lens, so time to try something new!

    JHDmL3q.jpg

I also got something else today, but it deserves a thread of it's own in my opinion! :)

Get yourself a nifty fifty lens. No Nikon should be without one, cheap and great little lens. Go for the older metal one if you can.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,214 ✭✭✭STG.Otaku

Yep a 50mm is versatile enough and on the radar for sure. I do like the longer range though and got a lot out of the 18-55 lens that came bundled with my Nikon.

I took this with it and was happy out. :)

    Nice pic.
But I'd still recommend the nifty fifty as nothing compares to a prime lens, and that one is a great first prime.
I'm actually looking to upgrade my camera in the next few months. Not sure if I'm going to stick with Nikon or go mad and switch to Canon :0/ I want something for both video and stills, and Nikon just doesn't cut it when it comes to the video side of things.

Some lovely things there Mr Otaku, particularly that Famicom book.
The GT is something I want myself, very nice, let me know how the surgery goes!

Well I at least have some games for the 3DS now.

Picked up Art Academy for €5 in Tesco (good for a quick throwaway laugh) and Sonic Generations from Amazon for a tenner.

Had Sonic Generations the last time I had a 3DS too... looks much better on the bigger screen.

Another release from Hucast came in today so it's that time again to dig out my Dreamcast .

    Redux

    IMG_0183.jpg

Included was a free update disk with DUX 1.5 since the original 1.0 version had a nasty scoring bug, funny thing is when I ordered this back in April I asked them to include my disk in this order but they where awesome enough to send me a regular DVD boxed version right away for free so I was surprised to find out the new slim cased full version was included now as most just got an loose disc in a paper sleeve :pac:

My Giotech GC2 WiiU pad arrived today, gave it a whirl and its a far better thing than the WiiU Pro Controller.
Don't get me wrong, the official pad is nice but I prefer the standard 360 stick and button layout.
It certainly makes Black Ops 2 a more pleasant play, despite the game itself!
It seems to have a Wii mode as well so it'll be interesting to see how that works with the Wii mode on the WiiU.
All in all a good €20 well spent.

Got 'Super Mario World' and 'Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island' for the SNES from OwaynOTT a week or so ago and today I got a pack of those game case protectors.
Look great, all shiny and the like!

    King of Dragons.
    Vandetta
    Side arms
    Wwf wrestlefest
    Also got a 20" Hantarex with a 900 chassis.
Hopefully I get get something working.
I asked for help on UKvac and jamma+.

Just looking at the ads now.

King of Dragons (original Capcom board) €10
    - Title screen appears but font/color doesnt look right
    - Sound fine on title screen
    - Nothing after title screen

Yep, that's just a suicided board. The fix done on my one by The Last Bandit will get it going. Involves grounding a pin on the C board and rewriting four eeproms on the B board.

    Vendetta (original Konami board) €10
    - No idea, monitor just died!

I'd be very surprised if he didn't try that in another cab. Fingers crossed he didnt and the board works! One of my favourite arcade games. Still grateful for a certain member here who gave me that as a freebee :)

Did you see his Double Dragon board? Any idea if it's original?

    Vandetta has life in it.
    Board has repairs.
Stuck in a self test cycle.

Side arms and wrestlefest are both dead as disco tho.

Didn't see his other stuff. Mad sound lad. He's moving to Tokyo next month so is selling up.

Those Konami PCBs have a reset button, might be worth holding it down for a while and seeing if it reboots the board.
