Are United really starting to play well again?

Recent results look pretty disastrous to me. Mata is a big signing but its not like United werent screwing games up when Rooney and RVP played.
I'll possibly have a look at Hazard >> Mata in a few weeks as I rate Mata higher but Hazard is having a pretty good season.

United played very well against Chelsea in my opinion. The result really doesn't show it, but I was still pleased with the performance for the first hour or so. It certainly wasn't good enough to win by any means, but if United scored first I think they could have gotten a draw. Playing Januzaj up front made no sense.

They played fantastic football against Swansea in the second half. If you ignored the first half it was another good performance! :pac:

Just looking at their last 7 league games:

    United 3 - 0 Villa
Good performance, although Villa really really underperformed. Still, a CS all the same.

    United 3 - 1 West Ham
United pretty much controlled most of this game. 57% possession and 16 chances created. Only conceded due to a very silly mistake from Buttner playing Cole onside.

    United 3 - 2 Hull
Two very early goals conceded within the first 15 minutes. United looked completely unorganised.

    United 1 - 0 Norwich
    United 1 - 2 Spurs
    United 2 - 0 Swansea
    United 1 - 3 Chelsea

3 CS in the last 7, which should have been 4 had Buttner not been put on. Seems decent enough to me!

    • Coleman injury doesn't look too serious. He should be back by GW26 for Palace I reckon.
    • Evans I'm not set on. United have some great games and are starting to play well again though. Willing to take a punt since he is a guaranteed starter, especially with Vidic out. (Perhaps being a United fan is blinding me, who knows).

I think United will socre more than they concede similar to last year with the attacking options they have signed / returing in Mata, RVP and Rooney. With their current midfield they will concede goals. If they signed Cabaye or Fellaini came into his own maybe... You have no Southampton defence there, you could go with Yoshida for 1m less than Evans.

See above for my final position on Coleman,Distin at 5.2 does covers you against Everton CS and he also get bonus pts.

These changes would both save you 2.5m if you wanted to, which could give you some more options re maybe Baker and having a sub keeper which may be important in the fixture chaos.

Good team though, those are only devils advocate points.

    Finally. SILVA....good man!!!

Cabaye edging closer to the door.

If I could get Norwich game out of him I'd be happy....

I'd feel bad getting rid of Coleman :o Also, Distin does not get BP's. He has only gotten 6 all season. Only one I'd consider for Coleman would be Jagielka and that is pointless.

This is very close to final.

Will swap the double Arsenal to Distin in a few of weeks. Can't justify the extra 1.5mil for Coleman for a chance of some goals.

Will swap Cabaye & Puncheon to Silva & Noone/Meyler for GW25.

I think if ever there was a time to take a punt on Man U by doubling up its now.

Thanks a lot for the Yoshida tip folks. Was gonna go Boruc and Davis with no rotation keeper but can do this instead and have a second playing keeper for just 0.3m more thanks to Yoshida.

Any thoughts....I know its out there but thats what I want.

Lots of work done today as you can see, starting to hate these wildcard weeks...

Too much $ in attack. No Yaya Toure. Like the Arsenal double up but would prefer to see Mertesacker in there. Have you considered Rooney over RVP? Would still be too much in attack IMO but would give you $$ and United coverage.

played 8 with both of them, won 6 and drew 2, just saying

I know its very big investment up front, but my team value is 112m with resale sitting over 108 so I think I can pull it off while having a defence on a par with a lot of teams. One of the sacrifices I'm making is downgrading Mert, who I have, to Kos but I may yet be able to avoid that with a bit fiddling around on my cheapie mids. Can keep Merts in while I have the double Arsenal I think.

I'm really interested in a punt on RVP for Uniteds good fixtures and the differential value of having RVP, Aguero and Suarez.

I may step it back to Rooney or Ade and upgrade elsewhere over time. If RVP starts tomorrow night this will probably be my plan for the next month or two.

Oh, and as for no Yaya, dont get me started on that again, lets just say it been the subject of long consideration and could be rectified if and when downgrading RVP.

Any opinions on Frazier Campbell for Cardiff? Will the incomings affect his gametime (Kenwyne Jones), Cardiff have amazing fixtures for 6 weeks after tomorrow! This very cheap third striker allows me considerable leeway everywhere else.

This wildcard is a pain in the hole, I'm only tinkering since this morning without even knowing for sure if I'll activate it this gameweek but I can't get a single other thing done.

:p That's fair enough. I'd be afraid not to have him but you have a plan to get him in so that's good enough for me. City midfielders and Everton defenders are the only glaring omissions but you've thought that through and have plans for future weeks so can't fault it overall

Silva is certainly in, just chancing it while City have a couple of tricky ones. I Cabaye goes that plan is goosed though...

Mata out in that scenario. I'm not convinced he'll score more than Yaya from here to the end of the season.

WC team will be finalised tonight, currently looking this:

    Cech Davis

    Koscielny Baines Clyne Mariappa Bruce

    Mata Yaya Lallana Ramsay Noone

    Suarez Aguero Sturridge

I'm thinking Mata, Silva and Hazard and two cheapies. Or possibly an Arsenal mid for Mata.

More likely thought the double United attackers will only be temporary and I'll have Mata, Hazard, Silva and another top midfielder with a cheaper forward line.

Hey! What do you think about my team? I have activated WC in previous week, cuz the Aguero prise rising.

    s31oh0.jpg

I'm considering also selling Coleman and Gnabry and take Dawson&Januzaj. Orrr... Selling Cabaye, Coleman and Gnabry, and take Cazorla&Noone&Baker. Just dont know if arsenal will keep good form. They have very tough kalendar in Febuary and March. Sorry for my English, I'm from Poland and I have just registered.

    Cheers,
    Paul :)

Again I would have Yaya in there ahead of Mata. I think people are getting carried away with that transfer. Yes he has FPL pedigree but I'm waiting for him to start scoring points, question marks are still over the 2 lads up front being fully fit and United haven't exactly been blowing teams away.

I think I'll bring Mata in myself tonight and decide then tomorrow evening I'll keep him. If he starts, which he more than likely will, I might just keep him. If Silva starts I might also keep him. Huge risk, but it's sh!t or bust at this stage.

Yep I think that's smart. If you really want him then get him in today before his rise. If you're on WC week you can get him back out before kickoff anyway. Also good point on the sh!t or bust, if you're playing catchup in your leagues and want a differential, he's as good as any I reckon if you can afford him. Obviously if you're ahead or close in leagues then the likes of Hazard and Yaya are more important.

    Witam pana. :)

    Few suggestions.

Wouldn't double up on Everton defence, their fixtures get a bit sticky soon I think.

If selling Coleman I would use the cash to either upgrade sterling or use it to upgrade Cabaye, who seems likely to be leaving then PL, to Silva although you'd prob have to downgrade Howard to a cheaper GK rotation partner for Boruc. yoshida is available for 4m for Southampton defence, although keep and eye on whether he starts tomorrow, so you could go Coleman to Distin, Fonte to Yoshida and go for a GK combo like Mcgregor/Speroni or McGregor/Mannone which might free up enough cash.

I'd keep Gnabry or a similar priced player such as Meyler or Noone for 5th mid as there's no point putting to much cash into 5th mid spot if it's scarce.

Wouldn't be rushing to get both Januzaj and Mata, Januzaj likely to be rested a bit more now getting sub run outs at times.

The main risks I would see are Clyne and Baker.

Ya. Playing catch up in a big way (120 points) but the guy I believe to be a bigger threat regards winning the league is about 80 ahead of me.
I'm going to pick yet another WC team and post it soon to see what ye think.
Major ground to be made up but as I keep hearing on here, it's not impossible

    How so?

    Distin is guaranteed to play.

Bruce is guaranteed to play at least for now but was also playing even before Chester was injured. Chester will be back in my team when he returns.

Baker has been one of the most consistent defenders in the AVL team since earning his place.

Azpil is somewhat of a risk but seems to be first choice at the moment.

Clyne was first choice before his injury, I see no reason why he wouldn't be now.

Distin is an injury doubt for tomorrow, Bruce may lose his place if hull ditch the 352, Baker didnt play against pool in a decent performance so may not get his place back, azpil I have myself but is a bit of a risk, Clyne didnt start the last game chambers played the last game ahead of him. All 5 could play this week or None of them would be my feeling on it. I suppose you will have the benefit of teamsheets for some of them this week. I just feel there are 1 or 2 too many risks in there
