Great post Mr. P, very informative. I played my WC last week (mainly due to Aguero) and am lacking in a few area. Injuries to Chester and Coleman and doubts over Silva means I have some decisions to make.

I got A Johnson in for Erikson. Basically same thinking as yourself, Adebayor will be my Spurs coverage when I downgrade Giroud. I had always planned on getting Rooney back in but Mata will be my United coverage now. Not sure what to do with Coleman yet but my defence will have to wait!

I will take a 4 point hit this week to get Mata in for Silva. I can afford for Ozil to drop a .1 so will be getting Toure in for him next week. Hopefully in a few weeks I will be where I want to be. Wouldn't mind some Swansea cover either but just don't have the transfers short-term

pretty much decided on this as my team, will pull the trigger on the final few transfers tomorrow once adam johnson gets his price rise.

i currently have gabbidon, is it worth the .2 i save to put in mariappa? i can't see any reason why not?

Feel free to add any suggestions on what you think i should do differently.
(i know januzaj is a gamble but with the 3 expensive mids i needed a cheaper 4th mid and want to see how things play out with him)

    Mannone - Marshall

    Coleman - Mert - L.Shaw - Mariappa - Bruce

Hazard - YaYa - Mata - Januzaj - Parker or Noone

    Aguero - Suarez - Giroud
.2 left in the bank if i go for noone and .1 if i go for scot parker (either of these will only ever be used when januzaj doesn't play or if they have a particulary easy looking home fixture)

Mr P what about going cech, davis for gk 10.0 over boruc/speroni 9.2. Then downgrade ivanovic 6.0 to ward 4.2. This will be an overall saving of 1.0 to use on your midfield. You have guaranteed chelsea coverage and palace coverage when you want it. As someone else mentioned go with ollson. Every week play 1 of ollson, ward , alonso.

With the signing of mata and putting him in your team, I personally wouldnt go with janujaz aswell. RVP and rooney supposedly fit and mata signing can only see a decrease in janujaz gametime. The above 3 when fit are going to play every game meaning AJ is up against wellbeck, young, giggs, nani, kagawa, valencia for the 1 remaining spot in utds front 4. He has been the one bright spark of late for utd however, from an FF perspective take his last 8 gws 27 pts when he has been a regular isnt enough for a 4th midfielder spot IMO. Id downgrade some combination of mert-kos, coleman-distin, giroud-ade to give you the funds to get another 4th midfielder in. For example Im not sure AJ will start at stoke or arsenal or before cl games when he will play as mata is ineligible.
Ive a feeling I know why you went with shaw;)

Debating whether to jump on board the Mata bandwagon. Concerned that if I don't he'll rise out of range pretty quickly. Wildcard in play so number of transfers not an issue.

    Current team is

    Mannone / Speroni
    Coleman / Kos / Cahill / Mariappa / Chiriches
    Cabaye / Hazard / Yaya / Eriksen / januzaj
    Ade / Suarez / Aguero

    Thinking of swapping

    Eriksen / Januzaj / Chiriches

    For

Mata / Noone (or Jedinak) / Baker

I feel like I'm weakening two positions to make the transfer but, on the other hand, it's debatable how often those players would play for me anyway.

Am I overthinking this? Should I leave well enough alone?

cheers, def something to think about with januzaj, if i did giroud to ade i could switch januzaj to wilshere.
I might just wait and see if januzaj starts v cardiff first as we'll have team news for that before the deadline closes, i'd be very wary of dropping him before united play cardiff. but even wilshere is a big rotation risk when ramsey comes back and the other stand out option in that price range, sterling faces much tougher competition for places now too.
I'd like to get ramsey back when he's fit and if wenger said before the deadline closes he's back this week i might even consider a double downgrade of 2 you suggested, giroud to ade and mert to kos to get ramsey in for januzaj.
if i do keep januzaj for the cardiff game i should be able to bank my transfer for this week and then look at moving him on the following week when rooney/rvp are back.
oh and i have coleman since he was 5.0 so can't really sell him without losing a lot of his value.
and yeah i have shaw since the start too but that rumour has def convinced me not to downgrade him to a norwich defender.
cheers for the reply, def food for though before the manager's press conferences tomorrow.

Ye I was thinking the giroud to ade and aj to ramsey(when fit is the ideal scenario). You could leave enough money to upgrade AJ to ramsey in a gameweek or two. I could be totally wrong about AJs gametime but he is only 18 and there are 3 quality players coming back into the utd attacking mix now.

I've come up with a team I really like for a change.

    7dbece9ac5f5a312372fe6de70768683.png

2 cheap rotating keepers, 2 premium defenders and pick one from the other 3 each week. In midfield I have 4 top-level players and a decent cheapie. And as I can't afford Ade I went with the next best in the shape of Bony.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,236 ✭✭✭qwabercd

I can afford Ade but I'm gonna take a punt on Bony. Seems to be coming into a bit of form and Swanse have some nice fixtures next 6 gws.

I didn't think of that I might have another play around with things so. My biggest worry would not be having a sub keeper though. With the fixture mayhem it could be useful.

I'd like to chance him but I chanced Michu earlier in the year under very similar circumstances and Ashley Williams too for good measure and got very badly burned by Swansea. I think to the point of not going near them again this season unless I get a very reason to do so.

The Europa will be kicking off in a few weeks and they're still in the FA cup. The squad is stretched too. But in saying all that an in-form Bony could trump all of that logic.

no you're right, he is a gamble and if he didn't have cardiff at home this week or if there was another stand out player in his price range i'd move him on.
And i know as a united fan i am also being swayed by his brilliant performances of late which as you say, isn't turning into huge FF points.
There is also that doubt with him of you never know if he'll start or come on for a 1 pointer.
but he has been that good lately that i want to give him a week or two while united have decent fixtures and then ramsey will be back playing.

Are people bringing in Ramsey for their wildcard before tomorrow evening? I'm looking at bringing him in rather than needing to worry about it in a week or two. However, with Coleman also injured I worry about having two on the bench not getting minutes.

I'll keep Cabaye otherwise, temporarily. Would love Eriksen but then I'm over reliant on Tottenham.

    Ramsey/Cabaye + Adebayor

    vs

    Ramsey/Eriksen + Bony

    I prefer option one

What about Noone from Cardiff? Only 4.3 and had a very good game against City where he scored. Ole has been talking him up as well:

"Noone is a terrific little player," said Solskjaer.

"He causes defenders problems with his pace and his technique, he can go inside and outside. He's got a good left foot, but he can cross it with his right. He got us back in the game with a great goal and his performance was one of his best. He's not played that many Premier League games so to come here and play like that shows courage. That is what we need. Courage to get on the ball at places like this.

Had money on Cardiff at the weekend so was watching their FA Cup game. He was very impressive when he came on. Tricky winger who isn't afraid to get on the ball at all. The only problem I have is Cardiff as a team look dreadful. Marshall had to make some brilliant saves for them to win 1-0. I think their clean sheet potential may have gone now to be honest, definitely won't be looking at bringing in Marshall at all now.

    Anyone got ideas for this?
    Boruc Speroni
    Chester Mert Coleman Gabbidon Vlaar
    Hazard Ozil Januzaj Cabaye Noone
    Suarez Aguero Lukaku

Want to get Mata, but is it worth taking out Ozil for him?

Also thinking Ade/Bony, especially with Traore signed for Everton now.

    Also 0.2 in bank

Folks, What is the deal with Monreal?
Thinking of downgrading Mert for him, at 5.1 looks viable but unsure if he will hold his place

I'm thinking about activating it this gameweek rather than waiting for later in the week, I'm thinking of sucking up the price rise I will lose on Mata by tomorrow as I'm hopeful Januzaj will play tomorrow night, if he starts I'm confident he can get in the points so I'll leave well alone. I've almost come around to the opinion which has been rampant here that he will achieve significantly less league game time from here on although I'd have him in the team every week myself. I'm going to give it a bit more consideration.

What are the best options for a 4.1 or lower defender, do ye think Fabio will become a regular for Cardiff? Is Alex Bruce in danger of losing his place to McShane?

One of yoshida or hoolveld both 4.1 will be starting for southampton due to fonte/lovrens injury cant remember which one is injured. You will know the teams before the deadline bar the arsenal fixture this gw saints have great fixtures.

I'm looking at bringing in Collins (West Ham), after the Chelsea match they have SWA avl NOR SOT. They're usually solid enough at home against the smaller teams even though their form has been pretty bad of late.

Lovren's out. Should be Yoshida starting, I think Hooiveld is an atrocious defender.

Cheers, Reid will probably be back at the weekend though which will make them much better at the back but put Collins place in jeopardy.

Yoshida is interesting, he's only 4m, if Southampton make no more moves in the market he could get a nice run in the team.

Think iv settled on this: Playing mostly 3-5-2 or 3-4-3

    Szczesny /Davis
Mertesacker Coleman Mariappa Bruce Yoshida (will check the lineups before I finalise Yoshida)
Yaya Hazard Mata Noone Johnson (want Ramsey instead of Johnson but struggling for money)
Aguero Suarez Berahino (hopefully will get more time since Long left, and especially if anelka gets a ban)

Happy enough apart from Johnson, I could take a punt on some new signings, maybe Zaha or Ince if he gets his move.

    Any suggestions?

    woPiLoJ.png

    Settling on this for now..
    • Not plannong on rotating keepers. I won't be too far off those who do in the end, more than likely. Happy enough to stick with it.
    • Coleman injury doesn't look too serious. He should be back by GW26 for Palace I reckon.
    • Baker is very likely to be back this weekend. Took a ball to the face against Arsenal and got stretchered off. Felt 'groggy' last week so wasn't featured in the 'Pool game. Not really much other options in the 4.0 or less bracket. Would be tempted to include Yoshida if I knew how long Lovren was out. Chambers not likely to get regular game time. Don't want to waste a transfer on getting them out in the next week or two.
    • Evans I'm not set on. United have some great games and are starting to play well again though. Willing to take a punt since he is a guaranteed starter, especially with Vidic out. (Perhaps being a United fan is blinding me, who knows).
    • Midfield speaks for itself. Thanks to you lads for the Noone recommendation. Was planning on sticking with Morrison at 0.3 more.
    • Bony bandwagon is calling my name but Adebayor is more consistent.

    On Bony..
3 goals in the last 3 games is pretty decent. Seems to be hitting a decent spell of form and I'd be confident in him scoring well over the next few games as well. In the last 3 games he has had 7 shots on target, 7 shots off target, 3 goals scored. Also created 2 chances for his team in that time.

    In comparison to Adebayor:
Only played 6 games back in the team. In that time he he scored 5 goals with 10 shots. 7 of them on target, and 3 off. So he has scored in 6 of the 7 times he got his shot on target. On top of that he has created 8 chances for his team and 2 assists.

Side-by-side there is no competition for me. I know numbers only mean so much, but they do help.

Are United really starting to play well again?

Recent results look pretty disastrous to me. Mata is a big signing but its not like United werent screwing games up when Rooney and RVP played.
I'll possibly have a look at Hazard >> Mata in a few weeks as I rate Mata higher but Hazard is having a pretty good season.

Gibbs is undisputed number 1 in Wenger's eyes. He does miss games here or there through injury or when he's returning but Wenger rates him higher than Monreal.

I like Monreal but no point fretting over whether a player starts every week.

Yea they look like the best 2 options. I'd expect Fat Sam to play Collins ahead of Roger Johnson mainly because Johnson is crap but it's probably best to wait and see.

This is very close to final.

Will swap the double Arsenal to Distin in a few of weeks. Can't justify the extra 1.5mil for Coleman for a chance of some goals.

Will swap Cabaye & Puncheon to Silva & Noone/Meyler for GW25.

I think if ever there was a time to take a punt on Man U by doubling up its now.

Thanks a lot for the Yoshida tip folks. Was gonna go Boruc and Davis with no rotation keeper but can do this instead and have a second playing keeper for just 0.3m more thanks to Yoshida.

Any thoughts....I know its out there but thats what I want.

Lots of work done today as you can see, starting to hate these wildcard weeks...
