Might seem a bit trivial to everyone else but this is a major bug-bear with me:
Shoes with soles that wear out too quickly. I bought a lovely pair of black leather ankle boots (biker style) in Evans last year and they had a small 2 inch heel on them-nothing major, just a small one.
Anyways, through near daily wear and tear, the heel is virtually gone as the 3 layers of glorified cardboard that made it up all peeled and fell away. The undersole is now starting to wear and I find it's getting uncomfortable to walk in them.
Granted, I could be lucky by taking them to the shoe repairman in Swords Village but it irritates the hell out of me that the only sole that can stand up to my inbalance-induced wear and tear is that of a Doc Marten boot.
Don't get me wrong, I love my Docs but they don't always go with everything and I always feel a bit butch wearing them. :/
The boots I got in Evans were feminine looking and classy, comfortable and could be worn both casually and dressed up but they're pretty wrecked now. :( Can only hope that the repairman is a miracle worker as I really don't want to have to throw them out.

Sure didn't you get two years out of them with daily use? Pretty good going if you ask me.

Cold callers. I know they're just trying to earn a living, but it annoys me. The other day is was Eircom and my husband was asleep as he was on nightshift. I didn't answer the door as I wasn't going to buy whatever he was selling, then he came back that evening, still didn't answer the door.

Interesting but true - when I moved to my current gaff back in September I was on the phone(on hold of course) about to sign up for Eircom broadband. Knock on the door at that very moment and lo and behold, it was an Eircom rep asking if I needed broadband! I no kid! T'was handy. :D

Methinks she spent silly money on them and expected more than two years!

I bought a pair of DC trainers near on three years ago. Cost perilously close to 200 nicker and only just about to chuck them out now! Amazeballs! DC you have my loyalty!

Trivial thing that annoys me - Nike trainers. Expensive, relatively uncomfortable, don't last very long and most are hideous. Especially luminous coloured "do they-glow-in-the-dark?" ones.

Same I'd be happy out getting a year of daily wear out of shoes or runners. I tend to get adidas ones, the flat classic looking ones, last ages.

Didn't pay too much for the boots- about €50 marked down from €125 if memory serves me right- but I'm annoyed by the fact that the heel fell apart in the space of about 8 months. :/ Me and shoes have a tempestuous relationship...

I have a pair of boots I bought years ago, I get them healed and toed fairly regularly (every year maybe) before they get to a point of no return, and I'll have them for many years to come.

Not my favorite material by a long shot, but I find crepe/rubber soles the most comfortable and durable. I was glad to discover it doesn't burn my feet either. They make most styles, colours and heel heights now,(tho not Court) Some very flattering. Great for everyday wear. '

I really should put a pair on now and bob along to the shops. :)

Quick question - WHY does the 'embed image' button seem to disappear randomly? I want to add a pic but can't!!!

You can't embed pics in AH!

You can add embed tags [img][/img] and it'll show up on the touch site, but not on the desktop site.

Errrr......why not? If it's not pornography or inappropriate in any way, why not?

Anyway, the reason I asked is because it seems that this thread was in danger of being derailed by a discussion about shoes :)

I'd like to bring it neatly back on track......

Cos every thread in AH would be bombarded with hilarious memes and pics instead of comments.

The initial heel that comes on boots is rarely that good. Wait until there's 2~3mm still left and then go to a cobblers, the one they put on usually costs about €12 or less and lasts a lot longer than the first heel. The wear probably isn't imbalance-induced, it sounds pretty normal. If you catch it before it gets too bad your shoes will stay in great nick.

Speaking of shoes - I'm trivially annoyed by the lack of nice looking wide fitting shoes out there. I have a bunion on each foot and it leaves me with a foot as wide as a 7/8 but as long as a 5.

People who think pets are nothing. One of my dogs is unwell at the moment, I think it's actually something quite serious. I posted on facebook looking for a bit of advice, as I have a few friends that work in dog rescue and one that runs a kennel so would know a bit about this sort of thing, one of my "friends" replied "I misread your post and thought this was something serious, wait until you have kids and you'll know all about worry". ARE YOU FOR REAL ARSEFACE???

Soap dispensers with a nozzle that's half blocked up with old soap, so when you push down the lever to get some soap it squirts out much farther than it should.

Have you ever tried Linda McCartney veggie sausages?

    Bangin', absolutely bangin'!

Pork sausages piss me off, because they'll never, ever be as good as the kangaroo sausages I had in Australia.

The bar has well and truly been raised.

People who don't pick up after their dogs. There seems to be an epidemic of dog ****e all over footpaths.

People who pretend to be above it all. Like, those who say something like 'Sorry, who is Justin Bieber? Is he an actor?' or 'I don't do Bookface, I can't be bothered facetagging'. 'I must be old, I've never heard of this band called one direction.'

I don't mind people who haven't heard of a trend/singer/whatever because obviously there is a rake of stuff going on, but its the people who deliberately act like they haven't heard of something and make out that they're above such trivial things.

I hardly ever ate fast food, still don't much, I might go to a chipper once or twice a year or so.
Sometime around September, on my way home late one evening, I got an unmerciful craving for a chip sambo. I was fantasizing all the way about the hot, semi-soft chips covered in vinegar. on batch loaf bread, smothered with butter that drips down your hand when you bight into it.
Nearly broke my neck getting off the train so quick to get it all.
So I bit into it, and it was absolutely Vile. The chips were empty except for grease and even that was different to the stuff he used to use. I couldn't eat it.
I was sick, more from disappointment than anything else.
    Now that's annoying!

Studied at:University of life. Hello, everyone has to go through life not just you. Ok, you didn't get educated and have a chip on your shoulder over this thus attempting to justify this by somehow believing you somewhat learned something by day to day living. Truth is: every single person in society has to adjust to social demands i.e the University of Life. I don't know any street corner who has lecturers hanging out demonstrating the pros and cons of various life choices. In other words, you are not educated and you need to face this besides using some kind of inane metaphor to otherwise endear your time to us.
