On another note, what's the verdict on Chambers vs Clyne? Chambers played last weekend but Clyne played today in the FA Cup? Will they be rotated a lot or was Chambers just given some playing time? At Chambers price point he is pretty appealing.

So is Baker (AVL) at only 3.9.. Injured at the moment but due back this week. I'll likely bring him in on my wildcard.

    Cant decide my fifth midfielder-
    Currently have sterling-
januzai on form but may not keep place long term and ff returns dont match
Mutch Cardiff cheap option and leave on bench most weeks
Cant see many other options who Id be happy as fillers most weeks

Reading the fantasy football geek blog i got a nice stat that silva has best chances created per minute played of any midfielder in the game. Meanwhile Yaya has very low chance creation stats or shooting stats which makes his goals returns defy all logic. 4 frees and 2 pens which Aguero will now take from his 11 goals.

Interesting, would love a reason to stick with silva but given my league ownership for Yaya would be a huge gamble.

Meanwhile, the player with the second best chances created per minute stat after Silva......some bloke call Mata!

Why did you have to post that!! I had my mind made up that I was going with Yaya. Now I'm not so sure again. I also can't decide between Cazorla and Mata. Cazorla with 4 goals in 4 games now. Really beginning to hit form and I've no other Arsenal attacking cover

What about Noone from Cardiff? Only 4.3 and had a very good game against City where he scored. Ole has been talking him up as well:

"Noone is a terrific little player," said Solskjaer.

"He causes defenders problems with his pace and his technique, he can go inside and outside. He's got a good left foot, but he can cross it with his right. He got us back in the game with a great goal and his performance was one of his best. He's not played that many Premier League games so to come here and play like that shows courage. That is what we need. Courage to get on the ball at places like this.

Lads, the answer to your dilemma is extremely simple: what are you playing for? Can you win a private league? Just your overall ranking now? Still in the Cup?
If you're still in for a private league win, chances are you need Yaya as a blocker in the worse case. I don't think the Silva differential is a key one at the moment. Especially with Silva getting little injuries after little injuries this season...

Your differential could be for example Mata or Cazorla. They have favourable fixtures coming in the next 2-3 games. Cazorla hit form while we don't know anything about Mata. Is he gonna play straight in? What about his form? The good thing is you can wait 'till the very last min to make your choice since we'll get to know the teams line-up before the deadline ;).

Is there any chance that the site will go into some sort of meltdown between 645 and 730 next Tuesday, I'm planning on making my transfers at this time but i'm a little concerned that they won't be able to handle all the action.

I'm thinking Silva these days. Is anybody with me or has everyone gone Yaya. Is there anything of the anti Yaya movement left?

I'm still in the hunt for a private league sitting 6th, all of the other top 10 have Yaya.

    But I want silva.....

There is a chance, butnot as much as there is before GW1. Still, I'll have a team I can live with already selected, just in case.

Stick with Silva, it's what you want to do, you've debated it in your head long enough

Silva is still in my team and will remain there until Tuesday evening at least. Not fully decided yet. All I could do with cash saved is keep Mertesacker instead of Koscienly or upgrade Boruc.

Cheers lads, have had my mind made up in both directions several times, I had even transferred silva out to make room for a couple of investment players with a view to getting Yaya on Tues, but it only costs me 0.1 to get him back.

Anyhow, not going to go on about it any more. Probably gonna go with the heart over the head but we'll see.

I'm quite interested in this fella still too...http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/robin-van-persie-could-back-6593959

    How does this look?

    825d203bfe960c92548ff3d6bbc7167d.png

Basically it comes down to this choice:

    Mert and Silva
    or
    Kos and Yaya

Kos and Yaya. I think Silva could well outscore Yaya, and is in my opinion the better FF option. That said, like Yaya's stats this year, I've finally given loss to all logic and am just going with him.

I can't afford not to have him at this stage.

Option 2. I dont think Mert is worth the extra money over Kos

Im still not getting yaya. Will have silva this week but think for the next gw I'll be getting mata for silva. I can see myself getting in navas as my city midfielder.

This is where I'm at with my Wildcard right now:

I'm looking at Ivanovic. Slightly more expensive than Cahill and Azpli at 6.0 but may be more assured of a start. Ideally I'd go for Cahill but with Matic signed Luiz may feature more at CB but not enough to tempt me to him even if he'd be the best option in an ideal world where he played every week.

I'm also considering ditching Coleman and looking at a back 5 of...

    Kos (5.4) / Evans (5.0) / Ivanovic (6.0) / Turner (4.3) / Alonso (4.5)

...with Boruc and Speroni in goal.

Distin could come in for Everton coverage if I needed it in a months time.

    ____________________________________________________________________________________________________

My front 3 is looking rather template in Aguero, Suarez and Adebayor but it's hard to come up with a better alternative for 3rd forward.

So midfield is where my big issues still lie:

I'm having Mata because I'm a United fan, I've been a Mata man for the past 2 years always dabbling with him when I can and he's a differential, assured of his start in a team that has shown signs of improving (quiet you at the back but they actually have improved in the last 2 weeks) and need to fight for every 3 points. He's also cup tied for the CL and have no other distractions.

After that the lines become a lot murkier. It's all about finding the right differentials which is why Silva and Santi both occupy my thoughts but both are very expensive. I also think it may be foolish not to have Lallana for the next month/6 weeks but he's expensive at 7.6 and owned by almost 30%. If I don;t go for Yaya or Hazard I shouldn't be going for him either.

I think Cabaye will be off just when I actually considered him as a viable option. Even if he went to United he'd be playing much deeper and not a credible option unless he proved different. PSG have bid for him this afternoon so for now he'll not be in my thoughts.

Eriksen/Ramsey/Wilshere are all options but with Ade I can't have Eriksen and I don't see Arsenal's midfield as really being essential right now. That Palace game is catching the eye but Palace have not yielded the points expected all too often this season.

Oscar is another option but as I read somewhere maybe here/maybe somewhere else (either way apologies for not referencing correctly :pac:) but just because you don't have Hazard it doesn;t mean that Oscar will automatically pick up the points Hazard doesn't...it was put much more eloquently than that too. The West Ham game is a temptation though.

Other options include Adam Johnson/Robert Snodgrass and somebody like Puncheon as 5th mid you may want to play.

My soft spot for Norwich is possibly why I'm looking at Snodgrass but now that he's back fit he could get in on the assists and set-pieces. March may be a better time to unleash him though.

I have 38.7 currently to spend on midfield if anyone can come up with a better way of complementing the funds with the right players.

What formation will you be playing. Evans is a good price but not convinced utd will keep clean sheets.

I know your love for all things Mickey T is great and is one of the best things about this forum but I really think you should call time on his inclusion in your team for this season Mr P. He is out with a hamstring injury and with no return date I feel you are just wasting a spot in your defence. You're gonna need your whole squad to be playing week in week out with the FA Cup fixture chaos on the horizon so you should replace him with his Norwich teammate Martin Olsson who looks great value at just 4.2. That way you still have a Norwich lad to cheer on!

To answer your question I'd say Hazard is vital to any Fantasy midfield but he's very expensive now. Mata was sensational last season so is well worth a punt. Lallana is a great mid price option along with the Arsenal pair you mentioned (Rambo and Wilshere). If Navas continues to get gametime he'd be one to keep an eye on. For the cheapie mids Noone of Cardiff at 4.3 stands out.

3-4-3 pretty much every week but flexible if I need to be. I do think United have been tightening up in recent weeks, coupled with favourable fixtures and the added threat of getting on the end of a Mata set piece.

Yeah I know and it's certainly crossed my mind about Turner alright. I'm basically holding his place right now and hoping to find out if Hughton has an update on him. I was thinking in the back of my mind that I could go for Bennett and it'd give me the perfect reason to jump back when fit. If ever there was an excuse for a -4 it'd be for the return of my beloved.

If I squeezed Lallana in as my 4th mid then it's a toss up between Noone and Delph at 4.3. My worry with Noone is that Ole is snapping up lots of midfielders , especially with Zaha on his way so not guaranteed the 2+ points I'd be looking for.

Figuring out how the FA cup will scramble the fixtures will probably have a lot to do with how touch and go calls shape up for my reserves.

If Chelsea beat Stoke then the only games in GW29 certain to go ahead as things stand will be Norwich v Stoke and Man Utd v WBA. That's the FA Cup quarter final weekend and those 2 games the only 2 knocked out playing each other at the moment who are both out, will change a bit obviously with the 5th round but its worth taking into consideration

Thanks for the insight Mr P!

I'm thinking along similar and possibly dangerous lines re Coleman > Distin. I fcked up with him before and I'm still sore from it, but shouldn't let that influence me. I just struggle with having almost 7m tied up in a defender.

The plus side of my previous mistake is I sell him at 6.5 and he looks like a drop is very possible so I could buy him back without too much trouble.

I remember when I was looking up basic FPL strategy for my crash course in August and think it was often said not to buy a defender purely for potential attacking returns, and with Distin at 1.5m cheaper and gonna get the same CS points its hard to justify.

I'm looking at going with the budget versions of Chelsea, Everton and Arsenal defences together with a Hull Palace rotation and the Boruc/Davis Gk combo to really maximise the money for the midfield and attack. I have a slightly above average team value so I hope to do make it work for me.

With the compulsory Aguero / Suarez spots taken and Hazard not moving under any circumstances that would leave me with over 41m for 4 midfielders and a forward.

This is what allows me to toy with using RVP as and when it looks like a good option. Such as when a potentially resurgent United face Cardiff City (H), Stoke City (A), Fulham (H), Crystal Palace (A) in their next 5.

Looking at something like this, with maybe Cazorla for Silva for a couple of games....

Don't suppose anybody has used their wildcard to get in 3 Man Utd players + Mata ahead of the Cardiff game? Would give you potentially 4 Man Utd players in an easy game. Obviously would mean you'd be left with having to transfer them out but wonder if anybody has done it.
